We're in for a Mild COVID Summer.

Granted the numbers will probably be around Winter 2020 high, but because it's not Winter 2021 high everyone will just pretend it's mild. That will last until whatever doom is circulating in the fall makes Winter 2021 become the new mild.

If we're going to keep doing this I at least appreciate they're timing it so the next trough in cases should be early June right when the weather here starts getting nice. It's easier to plan around waves if they're consistent.

So I've found that my constant reposting of thread info in other circles is getting a consistent response of: "But what do we do!?"

My advise has been: "Stay home when able, always wear a good (n95+) mask if not."

Then they ask: "Is that forever?"

Then I say: "Yes."

Usually the conversation from there goes into like theories of moral behavior and that this is only forever because of intentional government inaction. It SHOULD be on government to deal with an existential threat to its people, just like in a war or famine, or at least try. Our government's failure to do so is precisely what creates and continues the individual responsibility to mask and isolate.

I really do my best to avoid talking about the illegitimacy of a government that intentionally abandons its own people to the wolves, but that does occasionally come up.

Anyways, thanks thread for helping me stay as sane as possible in an insane world.

I don't know anything behind the scenes for The Last Drive In, but VinSyn has been lovingly restoring completely forgotten, neglected, and lost films for almost 10 years now. I know I've seen a lot of of their restorations show up all over Tubi, as well as on OTA sub-channels Comet, and Bounce.

Maybe there's a partnership with TLD, or maybe it's just that the licensing on movies like Dolly Dearest, and The Corpse Grinders are dirt cheap

VinSyn's Half-Way to Black Friday Sale is coming up on May 27th, it's a great time to get some forgotten horror gems and lovingly restored 70's porno.

It’s because the media only talks in points of time relative to what is happening prior to a spike. So they constantly hammer on things you should be doing like going out to eat and taking a mask off and having fun indoors with everyone because cases are low(er) and more often than not you will be ok.

Then they completely clam up once a rising wave becomes obvious and then navel-gaze about if we are at the peak or when we will be past the peak or how we will all be ok because this wave isn’t really THAT different from flu. They do this all while providing interviews from their home office or in front of a green screen to appear to be at an actual work facility.

They continually just don’t mention long COVID because the time scale for that is beyond 10 days so who gives a poo poo. And those people were probably sick anyways.

The genera public are morons who want this to be over so they just latch to the commentary at the lulls.

Yeah, but all the summer holidays involve being outdoors with local acquaintances where spread has typically been more difficult. All the winter holidays involve 6 families driving 400 miles to stay indoors at grandma's house, where COVID spreads best.
