One thing I forgot to mention, part of the reason Jones wants this to be settled via bankruptcy court is an actual jury verdict on the merits would be non-dischargeable in bankruptcy. He has already been found in default that he committed defamation with actual malice and that all his companies are just alter egos of himself personally. Any jury verdict on damages would be against him personally, and he could not ever discharge that debt aside from satisfaction.
