Does anyone have similar recs to stuff that sounds like Not Dark Yet by Fluids? I really dig the guitar tones, simultaneously meaty and static-ey, but what I especially dig is the drumming, how it almost sounds electronic or like hip hop trap beats at certain points throughout the songs, rather than just typical death metal drum-machine drumming.

Chat Pile uses an electric drum kit. Not quite what you're looking for, but I will not miss an opportunity to post Chat Pile.

I've recently become obsessed with Esoctrilihum, a one-man bm band from France on I, Voidhanger. That description will probably tell you if you want to check him out. I think it's brilliant poo poo.

Huge Therion fan here. I wasn't too much into Leviathan, I think only a couple of tracks really captivated me (Tuonela and Grand Marquis of Hell).

This one seems more interesting as it's symphonic but way less gothic than Therion's style. Sounds like 75% old Epica with a 25% Luciferian Light Orchestra mixed in. Could be a good way to reconcile Johnsson's current interests with his old band.
