It definitely feels looser than other seasons, which is great. Most epitomized by Lou adding a gas-station-quality casino to their ship. Just wonderful stuff.

It doesn’t help that Grant is there and also has terrible finances.

I sat down and shotgunned through The Seven last weekend and holy poo poo it was so good. Every Scene with the Penny and the Society of Shadows guy made me laugh so hard I cried.

I don't like to directly compare Dimension 20 to Critical Role for a lot of reasons, they really do different things - but I feel like D20 is much easier to pick up and watch. Say what you will, it's a lot less daunting to sit down and watch through a 8-16 episode series with a definitive start and stop, than say, preparing myself to go watch CR Campaign One for 115 episodes.

Also goddamn can Brennan get you right in the feels for what is ostensibly a comedy game.

Not exactly a hot take but with that outro at the last episode of Starstruck I feel almost certain Gunnie is going to die and I'm stressed about it.

Dimension 20's episodes are less than half the length of most Critical Role episodes too, so even that's understating the size of the difference pretty wildly. Critical Role is great for long form DnD, but it's definitely a daunting ask. Also, having just watched the latest episode of Dirty Laundry, drat is the show as chaotic as you'd imagine at times. Jess just outright forgetting she submitted one of the questions, and then misdirecting everyone by going "Oh, I've done that too, but I didn't submit it; I think" was great. Also, not shocking that Grant gets named by at least one person for almost every question.

Part of what made the Jess thing hit so hard was both Ify and Grant going "well I did that, but I didn't submit it" earlier in the episode.

Watching part 2 of the Starstruck finale, and oh sweet Jeezy Creezy, Murph is loving bringing it with Barry Syx's confrontation with Barry Nyne. "There were Barrys, then there was Barry, and now there's Barrys again, Barry!" Love that for them.

Cross-Posting from the CR thread - Brennan is going to be DMing an Exandria Unlimited run with Aabria and Lou Wilson included as players. Based on the trailer it sounds like it's a villains game. I'm loving stoked.

He played Nines Rodriguez on LA by Night, which my guess is how Brennan met him.

I'm hoping Aabria not DM'ing will allow her to flex her voice a bit more. When she DM's all of her characters kind of feel samey, good naturedly confused while the pcs run their slapstick.

Looking forward to the episode with the ProXD guy, Caitlin Reilly, and BDG (although BDG seems like the odd one out since he doesn't seem like he'd be great at improvisational noises).

He seems like he'd be better at the ones that don't need extremely different voices but just coming up with a wierd hilarious scenario and acting the hell out of it, maybe they'll tune the challenges to the competitors.

Yeah you're probably right, especially given that the other two contestants are very much suited to inventing little weird characters as well.

Ross Bryant should be good. he's big in improv Shakespeare, and apparently quite the rapper.

Hey all. I really love Dropout content but couldn't really get into any of the role playing stuff.

I watched some funny clips on youtube and watched a couple of episodes on the show where they go to pseudo-Hogwarts, didn't pull me in.

Any advice on which of the other shows I could try? Preferrably something short, funny and with a lot of Brennan.

Do you mean RP shows or something else?

Dirty Laundry had Brennan last episode, he's on game changer and breaking news fairly regularly.

If you're talking about RP then he's in all of them excepting Shriek Week and for all of those that he is in, he's DM except for misfits and magic. Which shows have you tried so far? Starstruck Odyssey just finished and it's great and not about high schoolers.

I'm not a huge DND guy, but I really enjoyed Escape from the Bloodkeep. It's only around 6 episodes long, has some really talented comedian players, and Brennan as DM.

Game changer has a ton of Brennan, and is fun even when he's not on there. Um Actually is also good and he's on that from time to time. For Um Actually I'd try the episodes with him, if you like those there's several seasons of it.

The ep of Breaking News where Brennan goes full Tim Curry for the entire back half of the episode and breaks everyone about thirty times each without cracking once may be the best episode of the series.

Latest Dirty Laundry was great. Amy brings some of her Breaking News energy to the format and it's amazing (doubly so since it's not like she's like that the whole episode and it doesn't get worn out, it's just one prompt that goes completely and hilariously off the rails.)

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I watched all the non-RP content. Looking for an RP show to start with since there are so many. Other than misfits of magic I've watched clips of the others but I have no idea of which.

I'll try Escape from the Bloodkeep since it was recommended here.

Bloodkeep and Tiny Heist are both short and incredibly good.

I also vaguely remember Brennan appearing in some Critical role one shot, but can't remember which.

Brennan's in the Elden Ring one shot. He's also going to be in (IIRC DMing?) the next Critical Role miniseries "Exandria Unlimited: Calamity" which starts this week.
