It's loving me up that french dressing is shades of red for Americans. I've only ever seen whitish sauces described as french dressing in the EU.

Our dressing names are pretty hosed up, they're usually created by some restaurant owner in the 20s named like "Frenchy" or something. I think "Russian dressing" is just mayochup I bet most of us think Thousand Island is supposed to taste like it's from some tropical Polynesian location, but it's named after Quebec
