But the move carries symbolism, and potentially opens the door for greater coordination between baseball�s players� union, long considered the strongest in sports, and other unions across the country.

�There�s no question that the players have big platforms, and having their voice on behalf of working people is incredibly powerful,� Shuler said. �We�ve seen that actually the history we have with the AFL-CIO, we have some pretty powerful voices in our federation � The folks who work in Hollywood, certainly our sports unions. But I think the point here is that we�re all workers, and we all have the same struggles. And whether you�re working on the pitch or on the baseball field, or on a construction site, we�re all concerned about safe workplaces. We�re all concerned that when you show up on the job, that you perform your work and you get to go home safely, and that you have a voice in that process, especially coming out of the pandemic.

�It�s not about who has the most Twitter followers. It�s really more about, what can we do to make workers more powerful?�

The AFL-CIO this summer formed a council of sports leagues, which the MLBPA has now joined as well, alongside players associations for the NFL, the National Women�s Soccer League, the United Soccer League, the U.S. Women�s National Team and a group representing professional football players outside the NFL.

Of course, they can't be supporting labor too much, that would be risky:
