Mine's Klonoa. The ending still sticks with me after a lot of time, because even though you win you find that your grandfather wasn't your grandfather, your memories were fabricated to get you to save the world and you don't actually belong there.

Then the only thanks you get is getting sucked into a black hole because your existence in the world is seen as 'wrong' and corrected by the Song of Revival.

hosed me up as a kid.

Wow. :stare: That's certainly one way to end that game. I'd only seen the first few parts of it before.

Toby Fox I will send you $100 dollars for another short description of the DANK gangs childhood adventures.

Also I love it every time an artists gives Baby Noelle oversized crying eyes I've seen it enough times i think it might be a minor meme amongst the art drawers.

Dess isn't missing, and Asriel isn't at college, they're both on the run from the cops together because they murdered a dude while their younger siblings watched. That's why Kris is a mute and Noelle's a broken trauma ball.

In an ironic twist, that dude was Chara

Some sort of normal Chara or Frisk cameo would be extremely funny, if extremely unlikely.

It's Night In The Woods. I'm in love with its cozy small town autumn vibe makes me ache for a childhood and experiences I never had, it's both warm and painful to think about. And that's before you even get into the drama surrounding the game when a dev committed suicide over other drama. So it'll never get dlc or a sequel and thinking about how special it was to me is tainted when I remember the other bullshit.

My personal guess would of been some obscure rpg maker fan game played by like 100 people for a mid level cringe fandom but feeling awkward about bringing up NitW because of the it's behind the scenes stuff also makes sense.

NitW rules and I am sorry but I legitimately think you have a skewed idea of what people think matters and that doesn’t 😔

Night in the Woods rules and also made me feel things, yes the guy who did the music sucked (spoilered to avoid anyone having to look at stuff that's potentially traumatic) and committed suicide after it was revealed he was a rapist, but the other people who worked on it are cool and it's still a really well made game that deals with themes incredibly relevant to the times we find ourselves living in.

Anyway, another game that made me personally feel things was Chulip, it's so loving weird that the deeper themes really take you off guard when they come up. I'm sure the six other people in the world who remember that game agree with me.

Technically those two were released before the main game was but yeah.

Apparently there were even plans to make another supplemental chapter after the fact but the whole drama with the game’s composer pretty much killed all chances of that (or a sequel for that matter) unfortunately

Longest Night and Lost Constellation were eventually folded back into NITW itself so you don't need to grab them separately (and you can play them on consoles)

I was just recently reminded because it’s the game’s 4th anniversary, but Wandersong is a great game with the same vibes of a pacifist run. It has a fantastic soundtrack and I think the story is amazing. Chicory is also a pretty enjoyable game you can take your time with (literally a coloring book).

seconding Wandersong, played it for the first time this year and was utterly amazed with how much I ended up enjoying it. Plus, lots of nonbinary rep.

GROSS BOY

If you guys want a game that came out at the same time as undertale thay I personally think did the whole video game setting as a narrative actually a multitude better, I would highly recommend OneShot if you haven't played it yet. I still feel that it's ending is the most poignant commentary on that narrative trope as a whole and the game was so robbed for coming out around the same time at UT because all anyone saw back then were comparisons to it

I remember OneShot, I played through that too! It was so fantastic and refreshingly positive.

I'm glad I could meet others who experienced NitW. You people cool. And better at explaining why it touched me so deeply.

Life is Strange is good!!! Everyone whines about how Chloe says "hella" and "shocka brah" but it's like, kids are saying "sus" and "sheeeeesh" so who cares

The prequel Before the Storm is actually my favorite of all of them, even though Ashley Burch doesn't voice Chloe in that one, because I think Chloe and Rachel's relationship has so much chemistry that I adored a few specific scenes in it more than any other LiS game. I loved the train ride, and the play and the walk home after the play. Those three scenes specifically were just so great. But also the scene where they first meet, the truck in the junkyard, the bedroom with the star lamp, etc. Loved those bits.

Life is Strange 2 and True Colors were also good though I still kind of like the Arcadia Bay duology the most

Also Burch technically does voice Chloe in BtS but only in the bonus episode (she was apparently a writer/consultant for the whole game however)

It is curious and wants to accept all kinds of challenges
looking into things (I never really looked into nitw before so this is me doing some wiki trawling real quick), the guy in the center of the controversy wasn't just a composer but also one of the game designers and programmers; notably he's the only one of the 3 game designers not credited as also being a writer, and he's the only one of the 3 to be credited as a programmer (though there are two other programmers involved). On the flip side he also wasn't the only composer, with one of the other game designers (Scott Benson, who was also the one of the 3 game designers to be one of the artists) also doing music.

Also True Colors is great, it just misses out on a lot of potential presumably because of Covid. What I wouldn't give for a director's cut that adds more scenes with other characters (I REALLY wanted a real hang out 1 on 1 scene with Riley and it never happens) and I also wanted way more of Steph, Ryan and Alex being a little scooby doo trio. I ADORED the little scene where the three of them are trying to scheme up a way to steal a flash drive from some character using their flirting skills.

As much as this game's writing sucks I don't exactly love the color commentary either. Feels very cinemasins-y of nitpicking every last little flaw.

Something both Deltarune and Night in the Woods does is have NPC dialogue change the more you talk to them. It makes the world feel really lived in and makes me feel more connected to it as a person who feels compelled to talk to every character I see at every possiblity in every game I play.
