Then again, at least it has something that resembles a bumper bar, rather than the grills (can't even really call them kidneys any more) basically taking up the full height. So there's that. I *hate* floor to ceiling grills, except in very specific models and/or circumstances. Like, say, a '33 Ford, or other '30s vehicle.

That made me wonder, has anyone ever built a motorhome that actually drives and handles reasonably well? Like, as well as an average CUV for example? Obviously there's those old GM motorhomes which are supposedly not terrible, but surely with modern tech and a big budget someone could build the on-road equivalent of those $300k off-road motorhomes and actually make it decent to drive.

How big/expensive are we talking here? Class B motorhomes aren't any worse to drive around than a standard one-ton van. Anything based on a one-ton GMC Savana is gonna be pretty decent to drive. Quick steering, a soft suspension with plenty of travel, and decent power with the 6.0 gas V8. The Ford E-series' suck rear end, I don't know about the Fiat/Dodges, but (despite my general loathing for them) the Mercedes/Freightliner eurovans should be alright.

Forget the motorhome part and start thinking about weight and size. So no, nobody's done that. Because it's not really all that feasible to make something that weighs 15k lbs or more handle like a 3500 lb vehicle. There are various levels of commercial trucks that handle like total poo poo to kinda well along with upfit that makes living in the cab miserable to tolerable.

Pipe dream. You'll never have mass low enough or positioned correct enough to make it drive comparable to a sub compact utility. Companies in the 70s/80s tried. the GM 455/TH425 based rv and the winnebago lesharo come to mind. The GM variant had some clever tricks going on in that the rear axles were independent and the holding tanks lower than the axle centerline.
