Older actors, just those 2 no one else in the trailer. I think he was asking about a birthday present and it was a scrap book of all his successful kills she had made. He was retiring?

Saw the trailer recently but we can't remember where.

They dicuss someone he killed in Paris and its clear he's a hitman, maybe both his parents were as well?

I saw this trail with my wife and now we cannot remember anything else about it, and it seems it ls not Bill Nighy as its not on his IMDB.

Anyone got any ideas? A new film.

I'm so confused as to where we saw it now. But looking at it that must be the film. But not the trailer that we saw which was just them talking. It was very low key, talking to his mother, getting the scrap book, talking about the family business. Weird

Edit: Mystery Solved, it's Wild Target and its been added to netflix, the trailer is the clip netflix plays when you hover on a title.

Back when Comcast had On Demand if they didn't have a trailer for the movie they would just pick a random section of the movie and let it play. It was always the same length (I can't remember the actual length I think it was two minutes), so they just would take a two minute random slice out of the movie and call it a trailer. I remember being able to tell which were real trailers because they had runtimes like 2:13 or 1:54 but the flat two minutes would always be a no-context random scene that often contained spoilers.

Recentish one word title horror movie where are the opening is some kind of heavy metal song and the singer screams the name of the movie as the title card appears. I thought this was Amulet but watching it just now and this doesn't happen. Possibly a Hulu original.

I just remember this from a trailer where it really caught my interest, but I forgot what it was called. It's a Russian film that happens during WWII but I don't think is directly a war movie. Made in the 80's? And super tragic. What I remember is an older child or young teen, possibly an orphan, a setting being a village in the woods. Maybe an abduction was involved, or a terrible family secret.

I can't remember if this happens in the credits, but Deathgasm is another recentish metal themed horror movie, also known as "Heavy Metal Apocalypse". I don't think this happens in Hellbender, I saw it recently and the opening is a cold opening of a witch trial.

I went to a local Hong Kong film festival when I was in grad school at uiuc during the years 1996-1998. one of the movies was about this bland blonde white guy who goes to China to study(?) and falls in love with a local woman. he learned Chinese working in a Chinese restaurant state-side. the movie was in a Chinese language. I think it actually took place in mainland China. I feel like the movie, An American in China, is pretty drat close but it's in English, and but more importantly, it was released in 2008. and I don't remember Michael Gross, but that means nothing. the movie couldn't be older than 1980 I think. it was fairly contemporary when I saw it sometime between 1996-1998.

I recall seeing bits of a movie like that for a class. This would have been early-mid 90s. I remember the guy brushing his teeth and singing a song about socialism being good (so definitely mainland)

iirc he also watches students doing kung fu and tries it by punching a wall

All I have is a single line: "That's a no-brainer!".

I think the context is something comedic, probably American, maybe from the 90s? Like Jerry Maguire, or a Jim Carrey vehicle.

Someone is choosing between two options, where one choice maybe leads to them getting conned?

So it's like: Do I go with (A), or do I go with (B)? Well brother, that's a no-brainer! I'm going with (the wrong one).

It's not anything included in this video, as far as I can tell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhW9YbSgwEU

This sounds very much like the sort of line that would be in Dumb & Dumber but I've not seen that since the 90s so I can't be sure.

Pretty sure it's a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode, but could have been a movie: an astronaut gets in a rocket and travels to another planet, lands there, and discovers that it is Earth. Black and white, 50s or 60s. I can't remember if the astronaut is from Earth and discovers that the other planet is also Earth, or if the twist was that he wasn't from Earth to begin with.

There was a frequent trope of science fiction of that period featuring space travelers coming to an alien planet and discovering that it was the America of their lost youth, with nostalgia for small-town America circa 1900-1930 giving way to the realization that things weren’t as they seem and there being some kind of sinister twist. If there’s something like that, it could be a lot of things.

As pointed out theres a bunch like that, the largest one I can recall is The Martian Chronicles:

quote:

A second mission is launched and the "Zeus II" crew lands on Mars in April 2000. To their amazement the crew (astronauts Arthur Black, Sam Hinkston and David Lustig) discover that they have landed in a town that looks exactly like Green Bluff, Illinois. circa 1979. They are warmly greeted by close relatives and loved ones who all died years ago. In fact, the Martians use the memories of the astronauts to lure them into their old homes, where they are killed in the middle of the night.

Counter Earth in the 60s could be Mondas, from Doctor Who’s The Tenth Planet. It was our sister planet on the same orbit until it got dislodged and wandered out into space. The inhabitants tried in vain to replace their own bodies with machine parts to stave off death, but only succeeded in turning themselves into… Cybermen!
