also c&c machines, for similar reasons. $100k of custom machinery with a controller that only works with a very specific PC, from a company in germany that ceased operations 25 years ago. running a german version of dos 5. if you change anything at all it will break, and there is no documentation.

i did a major IT systems overhaul for a manufacturer back in 2015, they had a half-dozen of these, absolutely mission critical, that had to be isolated into their own little sand box and then bodged into communicating with things using modern network standards. yes, SMB on dos 5 exists, and it is real bad.
