My partner actually liked that game, but "grain of salt: I got it for $20 and 'motorcycles during a zombie apocalypse' seemed unique enough to be worth a shot". (Survival horror is his favorite game genre.) Here's my (hopefully) final finding of the day: So I use psnprofiles.com to look at PS4 trophy lists when I get bored at work, because checkboxes and numbers make me feel good.  I was looking at the page for the Great Ace Attorney games and something on the side of the screen caught my eye:  "Huh, that's a familiar-sounding name. It did and it had a lot of performance issues and the gameplay was pretty basic. Apparently they fixed the issues and the game was better after but still was, like, maybe a 7/10 game? And the generic grunting white guy wasn't interesting unlike the generic grunting white guy who will win GOTY because he's a good dad.

yeah back in 2018, i was unemployed and they offered something like $500-$700 for a week to play the game. it was actually pretty fun, i enjoyed the gameplay but wished so badly for my character to be someone else lmao.

It was 'okay' and only really got popular once a ton of people got it cheap or for free with PS+. Once people began talking about it as a flawed game potentially worthy of iteration and a sequel he cried about that not being possible because people didn't buy the game for full price in the first quarter after its release. It would be like if Miyazaki's response to Demon's Souls being a sleeper hit that found a cult following and built momentum would be to just spend years crying that fans cost him Demon's Souls 2, and really it was Sony's fault the final planned area wasn't included, and really if you wanted a 2nd Souls game, you should have bought it at full price and now he could never make another Souls game because Sony owns the rights and they're mean. It's also funny because the dude chose to release a flawed game in an already oversaturated category at the tail end of a fad.
