I'm posting here instead of going in a gym obviously but is it uncommon for them to ban filiming/etc entirely? I would be so irritated with johnny dipshit influencer and his merry band of idiots making sick memes with me in the background.

AFIAK, photography and video is only prohibited in the locker rooms in most gyms, if not all. I've seen people who will film themselves while working out to watch later to make sure their form is good and whatnot.

I'm surprised if I don't see at least one person filming themselves when I go to the gym. A lot of people want to be the next influencer and are posting their workouts on social media. Some personal trainers use video to record their clients and compare it to videos of athletes/professionals as a tool to show proper technique. I've also seen people "recording their gains" in the locker room mirror without thinking about the fact that there's a 60 year old man hanging dong as he changes behind them.
