Okay, I've definitely suffered from Marvel fatigue, but I'm fully onboard for this one.
The idea that they swap around when they use their powers makes me think the fight scenes are going to be really innovative.

Yeah, the last thing I watched was Thor: Love and Thunder, because :nz:, and whoo boy, that was a lovely piece of lovely poo poo. Still, I'm willing to give this one a chance because I'm one of the freaks that liked Captain Marvel.

As someone who skipped the movie, that looks like absolutely nothing to me. Just a generic mob story. If that's all it is and it doesn't bother brining in Batman stuff, I just don't see the point.

e: gently caress that approach to Batman in general, I say. Give me robot dinosaurs and shapeshifting clay monsters and orphaned circus-boy sidekicks, with a very frowny boy who wants to solve riddles to save a kidnapped mayor.

Oh neat, the rad Croatian Blade Runner fanfilm with excellent practical effects is now part of an anthology movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTpcS1pPZ8I

I followed this one since the early days of it just being special effects tests on The RPF, so it's nice to see it get a bit of legitimacy. Still, feels a bit odd to have people pay for a movie that uses prop and costume replicas from Blade Runner. Hopefully this allows them to make some more original narrative work, they seem like real cool guys.

I feel like if I'd seen it at 15 i'd be all over it but at this point I'm so incredibly tired of Batman (and of course just superhero films in general). whatever you say about him, or don't, whatever subversion, whatever mood, whatever take, it's exhausting.

This is a great point. Even if my "perfect" Batman film came out, I doubt I could really muster up any enthusiasm.

And either way, it's better than Dracula Untold.

The final scene is actually a pan out to a guy looking at the bodies while holding a mysterious watch, and then they're later informed that they just found the Obra Dinn.
