maybe if anyone wants to talk politics of any kind they can do it outside of the 'thread for new video games that are coming out' as there are many places to do that.

I don't think your 'you should be teased for not wanting to buy Russian games since the dev lives in cyprus' is a very good position as you're just stating your own political opinion in a thread that shouldn't have anything to do with politics. Just probate anyone who talks politics in a thread that has nothing to do with that, then probate yourself I guess for the same reason

Nah so long as it doesn't become some kind of huge discourse I think it's all right.

Setter is Better.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is out on Game Pass. Developed by CyberConnect2, world-famous for Tail Concerto, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, and the DotHack games. It's a turn-based JRPG with furries in a giant tank. Some nice mechanics like passive effects on back-line party members which power up with social links.

https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/fuga-melodies-of-steel-2/9P5CK72457WF

Turn-based but I liked the battle system, it's timeline-based, so you can get extra turns by hitting weaknesses and causing delays, etc.

Also on Steam/EGS and consoles, but Game Pass is maybe recommended if you don't want to spend $40 on a budget JRPG sight unseen. The first game is also on GamePass, and if you dig that, you'll probably like this, since it seems like more of that.

I haven't played Fuga 2, but one of the draws of Fuga 1 was the story, which revolved around kids going to war and being helped by a magical tank that was fueled by the blood of children. You could sacrifice one of the children to win boss battles.

The story wasn't too grim dark though, as the 100% ending revolves around all the children surviving.

Crab Champions is dumb and fun. If you like similar roguelite shooters (Risk of Rain 2, Gunfire Reborn, etc etc), it's probably worth taking a look at. It's got no lore, the animations are half-assed, but the movement is fun and it's challenging.

I liked the first one in a general sense, but I never finished it. Got a bit bored with the endless turn based battles, even though they did their best to inject a lot of strategy into it. Definitely not paying 40 bucks for the second one but the first one was pretty good.

The aesthetic reminds me of EDF. Same half-assed animations, same low budget enemy models, all sacrificed to somehow build an incredibly entertaining game on top. Its an arena roguelite shooter instead of an inane sci fi campaign, but I really want to get the devs of both games locked in a room for a year to see what comes out.

I didn't even know a sequel was announced for this game. Really interesting move to release it around the same time as Tears of the Kingdom but I guess it's on Game Pass so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Liked the first game and I am kind of conflicted about getting this on Steam. On one hand I want CyberConnect2 to keep making games as they do but I already have Game Pass so it's kind of a waste.

Early Access. 83% positive out of 211. I played the demo for this one, wasn't crazy about it tbh although I like the idea and hockey games can be p fun.

I picked this one up to play on my stream deck (works great on it btw) and I had a blast. Very arcade style hockey game, great visuals, and a theme where you face off against themed teams like you're in that 80s movie the warrior. I laughed my face off throwing my stick at people and generally doing wild poo poo that would never happen in hockey. Lose my rigged faceoff to the team of all referees? Threw my stick at them and laid out three of my teammates. The gameplay loop is 4-8 minute hockey games of 2 - 3 periods. Feels pretty great to make some sweet passes and get it in the net.

Early Access so the current campaign is short, and future features (MP which has potential to rule) are not in yet. The gameplay loop is there though. If you like an arcade-y sports game you might like this.

The gap between easy and normal is way too huge. On easy I can keep looping forever as I exponentialy outpace the enemy scaling, whereas on normal I'm lucky to make it past the first biome.

Oh, it's undeniably poorly balanced right now. Some guns are just objectively better than others and Juiced is a wildly better item that basically anything else in the game no matter what gun you're using.

I will say, you ought to keep at it on normal. Once your build takes off, you start looping on normal. Just a bit harder to get that engine started

But, issues aside, it's dumb fun for $10 made by one guy in the midst of what is kind of a gaming drought for me (here's hoping System Shock remake doesn't get another delay).
