I love it when Ann Margaret's friends show up. That's when the movie is just on.

"Payne Stewart, holy man" is a riff that delights me because I get the reference.

Munchie is an all-time great episode for MST3K, as well as being an all-time nadir of a film.

It's a pretty fantastic episode. The movie is just fascinating. Seeing it's a Jim Wynorski film makes some sense out of the chaos, but I think it might be the lowest effort movie I've ever seen.

Loved that episode. The movie is everything I want from a riff target, as it’s batshit insane with the choices it made.

For me, 80s kids and teen movies are way more my bag than 50s and 60s b movies as I didn’t grow up with them. I wish they were able to put out the No Retreat No Surrender riff they did on the live tour a few years back, it was so much fun.

Is it true that Kickboxing Academy has never been riffed by any of the former Brains? It’s got the same exact energy of “kids movie made by a porn director” that Munchie has.

Not seeing it in the Rifftrax list at least. Might have to grab this one tho, I’ve not seen it and the title sounds right up my alley!

My stuff showed up yesterday.

I'd forgotten how hard they went on Gizmoplex branding on all of the merch. I know they're trying to get the streaming service's name everywhere, but I wish everything just had MST3k branding.

If they do another crowdfunding I'll definitely back it, but probably only to the "get all of the episodes" level from now on.

I think the reason they cited for skipping it was basically just that it's a fairly interminable sequence in a movie full of them, as goofy as it is, and they had to get some time back somewhere to fit the slot.

JDB does kill a guy by slamming a big rock down on his head in the title sequence where he looks like a smallmouth bass. You can buy a DVD copy of the Mitchell theatrical cut on eBay for like $5, def worth it

The fact that they could fit all these flicks into a TV runtime was impressive all by itself before you even took needing to make time for host segments into account.

I think there were at least a couple movies the MST crew had to trim a few scenes from for one reason or another (for example, there was a rape scene in Sidehackers) but I don’t think it’s something they did that often to my knowledge

So was the aforementioned Mitchell scene something they cut then or was it just not in the version of the movie they were given (the “You son of a ….” lines from Final Justice being an example of the latter)?

My understanding is that with Mitchell they got the TV edit, which cut the John Saxon scene.

I think they comment on it in the episode itself (“Wasn’t John Saxon supposed to be in this movie?” or something along those lines)
