Also I was on the wiki to remember everyone's names and apparently Gaolang Wongsawat got his name changed to Kaolan? When did that happen?

Indra Haruo vs Jose - I'm still really chapped that Sandrovich never allowed Haruo to drop the weight when it was shown to be bad for him overall and a sign of his bad habits. having the two students of Seki duke it out is a must.

Bando vs Akoya - Would like to see if Akoya's insane reflexes could help him effectively mitigate Bando's arm whips. And given these two only one is leaving the ring either because of justice or sheer pragmatism.

Sen vs Jurota - It's not that this fight is bad, but I'd have preferred to see two specialists in throwing and displacing the opponent duke it out.

Jurota is the upset fighter, everyone expected him to win against Hayami but also expected him to lose against Agito. But goddamn he tanked a loving Dragon Shot right at the heart. Probably the most High Diff fight so far.

I guess every move is just tank-able now. Yeah my sternum is shattered but I made a promise so I'm going to keep fighting normally

Adrenaline does some crazy stuff and I think kengan has always been clear between an actual break Vs a fracture? This might just be me rewatching the anime and getting to the guy having his leg snapped by Julius's grip

I'd like to point out that this isn't the first time we've seen someone win match with a cracked sternum.

Gensai did it against Setsuna, and he was far less hosed up at the end of the match than Jurota here.

Of all the fight manga out there, this one tends to foster the most pedantic discussion. Yes, of course the guy won a fight with a cracked sternum, these are superhuman cartoon people. Watch MMA if you want realism

Nobody cites plot armor as an explanation for anyone's victories though, so it's still better than a majority of comment sections

I think it's because it didn't really start out that way. Fights used to be more about strategy to set up a finishing move that would work because the characters were really good fighters with inherent human weaknesses. Now it's about guys who have learned not to breathe and tanking ultimate finishers through samurai spirit.

Basically it's become Baki without the muscle-cult homoeroticism, which is the whole point of Baki.

The fact that it seems, 4 episodes in we'll need a 4th series to finish round 2 + the interruption sucks

I forget when the attempted takeover happens but it's for sure before round 3 and at the pace they're going there is no way round 3 and 4 would be in the same season and I just want to see it all animated

i think people just get happy when the fights are all like "with my incredible martial arts skills and the special abilities granted by my weird hosed up body, I've spent half the fight setting you up for my finishing move, which is actually a normal martial arts move slightly adapted to work on my opponent's weird hosed up body"

and they get mad when the fights are all like "sure, you literally shattered my fist bones, and the remnants of my ribs are shredding my internal organs, and you just slammed the base of my skull directly into concrete, but i don't feel like losing yet, so i'm just going to keep getting up until i hit you once and win instantly"

nobody gets mad if saw paing takes a sledgehammer to the skull and keeps on walking, or if julius trips and falls into a meatgrinder and shatters the blades with his muscles. it's cool and awesome when that happens

Yeah, I think this is it. The nonsense muscle magic has always been an integral part of Kengan. We had a character who fights with prehensile head hair and we have two prominent recurring characters whose fingers can punch holes in steel and stone; strict physical realism isn't that important. The complaints stem from all of the best fights in Asura being decided mostly on actual human vulnerabilities and frailties, which led to a weird "this is pseudo-realistic martial arts fighting being done by goofy muscle magic characters" feel which is largely absent from a lot of Omega.

The judo guy tanking the sternum crushing punch is to show the reader that what he learned from.his loss against Hayami was that in order to reach the highest levels he needs to literally sacrifice his body to do so. The old Jurota would have gone down, the new post-Hayami Jurota will literally let every bone in his body break if it means he will achieve victory

RareAcumen

How long does a technique need to be known before it becomes effective and stops being an improvisation? The Dragon shot obliterated Hatsumi Sen and didn't work on Kuroki nearly as well.

I get what it's going for but this is precisely what I'm getting at. Taking a sternum crushing punch and powering through would have been like Mokichi continuing to power through having his neck crushed back in Asura.
