This kind of seems like Kenshi mixed with a weird turn based combo chaining combat system mixed with, like, some kind of city/land builder? I was watching a stream of this today and when the player got the edge of a land mass, it let him choose what the next connecting area was and place it on a grid map before entering it. Some really weird and cool stuff.

Stlll in Early Access, $14.99, but has had over three years of development and expect about another year of content updates before full release.

BIG NOTE: You may see that the language in the video above is not English. You can set it to English language but

It's machine translated and...not great. But good enough that you can generally tell what is going on, especially since this is not a game with a plot but more of a sandbox.

Hello! I wanted to second this game and also let folks know that it got more content recently as well. It really is a fantastic game with massive potential, and devs are talking about adding Workshop support.

Posted this back when it released in early access. I thought it had a lot of promise and I love the art, but it was extremely barebones. Now it's 1.0 and it looks like they've added a ton of stuff. If you like pretty graphics with your card battlers this might be a good option. However, there is almost no story at all and it makes few concessions to new players.

I don't believe it is the same developer, but there are some shared staff. Most likely you might be thinking of Xalavier Nelson Jr. who served as writer/narrative designer for both Hypnospace Outlaw and El Paso Elsewhere, and does the music/raps and voice over for the protagonist as well, if I'm not mistaken.

Only played about an hour of it, but this seems very cool, especially for free. The tutorials are very good and I like a good ol' fashioned "type the keywords to the NPCs" style interaction.

The graphics bear a similarity and both are classic roguelikes, but that's about it. This seems to be a fairly streamlined dungeon crawling experience, while Caves of Qud is a maximalist simulationist sandbox where you achieve transhumanism by reconfiguring your body with extra limbs and devices, cause liquids and gasses to interact in explosively beneficial or harmful ways, and grant sentience to inanimate objects.

Man, I really liked the first one a lot, did (I think) every puzzle in the main game, or close to it. I tried the DLC and dropped off pretty quickly, though. I'm wondering how well this will run on a Steam Deck-- looking at comparisons to equivalent PC parts it seems like the Deck's GPU is close to a 1050ti, which is the minimum this game can run on. Might have to hold off until there's some definite word.

Agreed, I can breeze through the regular game with any deck on Classic or Classic Plus, but using the DLC deck/campaign I'm getting wrecked toward the end. And that's after getting a permanent momentum bonus pretty early on.

There just isn't great synergy in that deck. Keeping the gun out or holstering it is a bit fiddly, and sometimes sticks you with dead cards in your hand in a way that most decks don't (or can be easily culled).

This game is actually really fun, it surprised me. It's got that simple japanese anime video game combat style, not sure how else to describe it but kind of reminds me of the Attack on Titan game which was also pretty fun. Also has some Dynasty Warriors vibes since there are tons of basic enemies you can move through but then really tough bosses that you must take your time on.

In any case, doubt many people will be interested but this game is drat fun.

IMO what Cocoon lacks compared to Limbo/Inside is a narrative hook. I have no idea why my little cockroach dude is wandering around messing with orbs. Compared to "kid on the run from cops/giant spider" and "infiltrating weird science facility" it's a lot more abstract.

I think 2 is the best. This one has some mechanical improvements (like zooming in) but as you said, it's not quite as meaty as 2/3, and I personally didn't like the gimmick in the cave level (though it was thankfully brief). If I remember right this new one also didn't have any moving elements? The others had moving cars/boats/etc which made the scenes a little more fun and dynamic.

I like 3's theme the most but they went a bit overboard with the difficulty on that one. 2 is the most balanced between everything, and the mini game's fun. But it feels like they haven't made their masterpiece yet. Maybe 5 will be the one where it all comes together. Apparently already in development!
