Steamworld universe meets Anno. If it comes together nicely and gives the best of both, should be much fun to play.
I really liked my initial 7 hour run of this game, fun gameplay loop and it's more chill than most of this genre. Unfortunately that one run seems to mostly be all it's good for, as the alternate starting locations barely change anything and you pretty much just build all the same stuff in more or less the same order, there's almost no variation between runs. Check it out if you already have gamepass, and they seem to intend to add more to it post-release, but there's not a lot to it right now for a $30 game.

Pretty much what every review of the game states as its main downside. Seems like a "good for sale" game.

Not too far in, but it's got the city building hook, and has a secondary city building hook underground where it feels a little like dungeon keeper where you build up utility rooms to provide certain builders to help mine and do other utility functions, while you expand up top in your normal city. Very slick so far.

Yeah I gave it a shot, it's pretty fun although can get a bit slow when you're lacking one specific thing. Only got to level three of the underground so far.

I'm also wondering, is the story in each area different? I just started with the first one but I'm wondering if there's a unique narrative and voice acting for each one?

Early Access. Mixed reviews currently, but I'm still posting it because most of them are complaining of certain encounters being way too hard and the odd bug. All very fixable things. To be it does look a bit cluttered, but I like the art and it seems promising.

I like this game a lot so far. Been kind of down on card battlers but this one has the polish and mechanics to make it pretty drat fun.

For that I found it to lacking of challenge, and later slow progression. Also as someone who played a lot of Anno over the years this games light version is lacking one essential element of "sell up to" or "keep that amount of poo poo" so if you put something on sale that is capping in your warehouse and forget about the trade since you're down in the mines doing other things it will sell everything until it can't. Given how otherwise easy the game feels (not necessarily in a bad way, it has a chill flow to it) this seems like an oversight.

Its OK but could've been better, also apparently from not quite the same developers. Didn't know the franchise was that much distributed.

Legends of Amberland 2 came out today. Instant day 1 buy from me, having played LoA 1 earlier this year.

I haven’t played it yet, but it’s based on the same engine as the first one, so I’m really just expecting more of the same. Which I’m 100% ok with.

It’s a blobber dungeon crawler that gives you a party of 7 characters to control. It harkens back to Might and Magic 3-5, with breezy world, encounter and puzzle design and cute cartoony graphics. It plays very fast and controls well on the steam deck.

If you loved MM3-5 and want a more modern version this is a no brainer pickup.

Don't sleep on this if you're like me and have mostly tuned out any incoming Vampire Survivors-likes. The music and visuals are trancelike and the game is super fun. Boss battles transition to more of a "bullet hell" style thing than traditional Survivors gameplay (although not super difficult so far except for one secret boss I accidentally summoned who destroyed me) and it has some really cool interactions with pickups and upgrades. Story is actually pretty interesting too. Bosses have a ton of different dialogue each time you run into them which is always very charming to me

Yeah I picked up PICAYUNE DREAMS this weekend and got mega-sucked in. I suck poo poo at hardcore bullet hell games but this one is pretty manageable and you can whip up some builds that make the occasional bullet hells extremely manageable. The creepy story is fun, I'm a sucker for glitchy dreamy bits. OST is a banger, stuck in my head all day.

If I have one criticism, it's that (so far anyway) all the combat takes place in the same "space scape" just with like an asteroid or a space station in the background occasionally. There's no variety in the environments. I kinda miss the VS forest/library/castle/Japan/etc variety. It's not a huge deal because the backgrounds are more or less incidental but I think flying through an giant asteroid field where they are solid objects or through a gas giant or something would add some spice.

Still, for 5 bucks this feels like a fresh take on autoshooting horde survival

Seems to be a good-natured, silly little platformer-explorer sort of thing. 433 out of 434 reviews are positive, and this thing often tops the charts of SteamDB's 'hidden gems' list.

God damn it, you've got to be kind.
I played the poo poo out of the first two Phantasie games on my C64. The combat sounds are burned into my brain.

Do you like Minecraft? Do you just love Token Ring networks? Is packet flow control and filtering your jam?

Already put 20 hours into it trying to make my networks as efficient as possible. Your pay is directly associated with the KBps rate of properly delivered packets

I tried it, but was hampered by how janky the actual tunnel digging mechanic is. And there are all these small air pockets inside the ground which means you can’t have nice, straight tunnels.

And I know you can turn them passive, but I did not like how the first monster I encountered attacked despite me doing what the game told me to, and then it killed me in one bite.

One time i prank called a bear buildin workshop and said I wanted my mamaws ashes put in a teddy from where she loved them things so well... The woman on the phone did not skip a beat. She just said, "Brang her on down here. We've did it before."

This game is cool as hell.
