Ten Count: who would you have play a Vince Russo analogue in a mockumentary about 1999-2000 WCW?

Cowboy Bobs Hep C posted:Ten Count: I can't think of an actual question right now, but could you pick two wrestlers with your Random 'Rassler Roulette wheel and discuss how a theoretical feud/match would be? I Before E posted:Ten Count: who would you have play a Vince Russo analogue in a mockumentary about 1999-2000 WCW? We have a full slate (more than full, actually) of questions, and I expect to get at least a couple of topics from tonight's Raw. These will go in the queue; they might not be answered this week, but they will get on the show.

I was amused to see I made Gabe admit that Jerry Lynn had two notable ROH title defenses other than the match with Roddy. I wonder if he was whispering "gently caress you for this" under his breath as he agreed. Here's a direct link to the thread: http://theboard.f4wonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=159894 I could see some of those posts getting him ousted from DGUSA.

Basically, one dude says that "FREDGARVIN" is Gabe. Apparently there is heat between Gabe and Alvarez from Mania weekend? Anyway they go on to repost all these FREDGARVIN posts where he is putting over "Gabe's work with ROH" and just burying the product post-Gabe. To the point where it's pretty comical. "dave me if I'm wrong. But what the mouth breathers fail to realize is that Heyman and Sapolsky did a HELLUVA LOT MORE than what Russo and now Bischoff have done with TNA. With TNA having a HELLUVA LOT MORE advantages when it comes to exposure than ECW and ROH did." "A friend of mine loaned me his copy of Death before Dishonor VIII. A very strong "gently caress You, Tyler" chant at the beginning of the match. You should have been fired a long time ago, Pearce. And you should never have any influence on booking decisions, Cary. An absolute disgrace what this promotion has become. Pathetic." "ROH sucks a big fat dick now." Apparently the guy who started the thread has "confirmation from a source from Alvarez himself" that it's Gabe. Now get a subscription you freeloaders

It's actually LESS pathetic at this point if it's really Gabe. If it's not Gabe, someone is a loving weirdo.

He sure writes in a similar fashion to Gabe and has some of the same observations on ROH shows like Anarchy in the UK. I wish I was still in grad school, some of the plagiarism detection software and other writing analysis software would probably confirm those similarities pretty quickly.quote:I guess the thought that Silkin has an axe to grind with Gabe has not entered some people's minds. Gabe (rightly so) denied Cary creative control over ROH. But I guess putting the belt on Jerry Lynn and all the other stupid poo poo ROH did after sacking Gabe were wise business decisions................ Stuff like this about Cary comes off very personally and I don't think I remember hearing the thing about creative control elsewhere, but I may be wrong. This quote also seemed noteworthy: quote:truthslayer wrote: LOLing at RF Video sending out a newsletter with links to Gabe's two iPPV's this weekend with his affiliate links in the e-mails. Suppose that's the purpose, but just funny considering the two parties and who's looking for the kickback. MassRafTer fucked around with this message at 21:09 on Apr 29, 2013 |

I'll be goddamned. I remember getting a RF Videos email out of the blue a long time ago, and Gabe going "Well, it wasn't me! I would NEVER do such a thing". I think it was right around the time Gabe got fired, too.

I also found absolute proof it is Gabe: fredgarvin posted:I was a big fan of the Resilience/NRC feud, so I absolutely loved the first part of the match where Aries and Stevens' hatred for Davey Richards took precedence over the tension between the two as they teamed together to put some hurting on Davey. How did Bryan make Gabe mad on Wrestlemania weekend? Reporting the iPPV problems and that the crowd left early to make WWE shows ontime? I thought he really liked what he saw.

Gabe got really mad at everyone who reported the IPPV problems. 411mania did a show report where they said that the first half a card was unwatchable, so Gabe sent in a huge email about how they shouldn't judge his promotion on technical issues, and it totally wasn't their fault. When someone gets mad about what 411 says, maybe its time to admit you can't take criticism.

UltimoDragonQuest posted:It's Gabe's streaming company! It wasn't his fault though, to be fair. Not that it excuses him being a huge bitch about it, but the issue for the Evolve card at least was that the people hired to set up the connection showed up too late to test everything before it went live. Gabe is a douche though and anyone with a brain would've put one of the unaired shows on first for that very reason.

Sorry the Ten Count is a few hours late this week; I didn't start editing it until after the insane 19-inning Angels/A's game. I was joined by HulkaMatt, MRT and KFG for a sprawling discussion that touched on The Wall, Adolf Hitler, @mongo_ebooks and, very briefly, professional wrestling. Topics: 1. Big E Langston's historic first loss 2. WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: Prince Devitt 3. What's the difference between a crowd having fun and trying to get itself over? 4. Has a gimmick change ever killed your interest in a wrestler you used to like? 5. What's going on with WWE's midcard title scene? 6. If Terry Funk came out of retirement to wrestle just one more match, who should he face? 7. FEUD OF THE WEEK: Jeff Jarrett vs. Hulk Hogan 8. HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION TIME: What if Owen Hart didn't break Steve Austin's neck in 1997? 9. What wrestler(s) did you love as a child, but then look back and wonder why? 10. "MRT, you wanna be on the Ten Count?" "Only if we talk about Gabe." Also, if you haven't, give us a sub on iTunes. We're pretty cool there, too.

Draga posted:What was going on around 17 minutes in? Kinda went crazy there. When I was editing, that was the original placement of the flashback that happens around 20 minutes in. I had to move it right before exporting, and accidentally copied instead of cutting, so it plays where I initially had it as well as where it ends up. I also didn't save the project file, so in order to fix it I'd have to re-edit the entire show, and that quite simply isn't going to happen. Basically I hosed up and made a stupid mistake.

Dude, it's 30 seconds of the podcast, don't worry about it at all. edit: also, that question about Austin not getting his neck broken: apparently I skimmed the Owen Hart page on wikipedia and didn't realise the entry about the tag title match from May 1997 wasn't about the Owendriver match. If you want hear something bizarre listen to the new Steve Austin Show: Austin vs the Fly. It's Austin and a house fly (which sounds like Austin talking into a fan) cutting promos on each other and then having a wrestling match where Austin commentates.
