I've seen Shooter too. As penance, I'll find one and come back and tell you all.

So Trailer Park Boys S9 was released last week. Overall I would say it wasn't as good as S8 (which was better than it had any right to be), but it picked up at the end. It was mainly the new character that I just didn't find very funny. The Saskatche-quach bit was probably my favorite part, although it was pretty obvious to me early on that it was gonna be Sam Losco. Still, I'm a total sucker for that character because he's the greasiest motherfucker I've ever seen. George Green was also just kind of... there, and didn't really do anything. Wikipedia claims seasons 10/11 will be made at some point too. I hope they keep Willy Goat if they make them!

I'm gonna say it's probably not worth the risk. lovely, extremely unsatisfying, boring movie. Glad more people are watching Housebound because it's fantastic. For all of the hype Babadook and It Follows are getting, it's kind of lame Housebound slipped under the radar because it's by far the best of the three.

The Double http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1825157/ has at least one long sequence I remember that's a direct homage to Rear Window. On the whole the movie more closely resembles Vertigo, which it goes without saying you should see if you haven't already.' Also, it is technically an isolated army outpost and not a cabin, but Ravenous is a fantastic movie, someone a while ago made a good thread about it. I hesitate to call it a horror movie, it defies genre and just demands to be seen. e: Whoops forgot this was the streaming thread and not just the recommend me a movie thread, so these movies may not be streaming, but I spent too much time thinking up the suggestions to edit out the whole post.

Francois Ozon's In the House is about a teacher who becomes obsessed with helping one of his students sneak in to a house because doing so forms the base of a story the student is writing. It's a much better film than I just made it sound.

Does Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt get better? People keep recommending it to me, but the pilot was aggressively unfunny. I'm willing to give it a few more episodes if it improves, but I'd rather start watching something else from my giant backlog of shows if not.

david_a posted:Yeah, good stuff. Finished ep 3, Teddy is becoming really unsympathetic and I sorta hope Tawney gets a divorce because their relationship seems so incredibly awkward. I kinda wish I re-watched S1 because I can't remember the specifics of what happened between Tawney and Daniel. I don't remember anything too damning but she's acting like it was a big deal. Or maybe it was, comparatively, because of how stilted her relationship is with Teddy. It was kinda weirdin' me out how isolated Tawney was during Season 2. Like how nearly all of her scenes were with Teddy. Though I'm sure that was the point. She didn't really do anything in Season 1, she just kinda developed feelings for Daniel and that's a big deal for someone as conservative as Tawney.

Then the second half is worse than the pilot. I enjoyed it overall myself.

The pilot is definitely the weakest part of the show, because it's trying to rush everything and cram a bunch of setup into one episode. It becomes more formulaic after that, but a lot smoother and funnier. Give it a couple more episodes before you call it quits, I'd say. Mescal posted:Yes, for a few episodes. So is netflix now doing a thing where if you binge watch a show it starts reminding you to do normal human poo poo? When I started watching earlier it would just have the next episode preview at the end of an episode, and then it started posting things next to the preview with things like Walk your Dog, Go to the Bathroom, Eat something, and now that I've been binge watching through my insomnia, Go To Sleep.

Just saw that The Crazy Ones is up. I heard good things about it when it was aired. My only hesitation on watching it is that it's going to be bittersweet watching it so soon after Williams' death. As for recommendations, Syriana went up on US Netflix about 2 weeks ago. Good slow burn political thriller composed of seemingly unrelated plotlines about the Middle East and oil, supported by a solid cast -- Damon, Clooney, Jeffrey Wright, Christopher Plummer, Chris Cooper and a whole bunch of other good actors. I think it's slow burn, anyway; I watched it back when it came out and I was far less politically aware (read: a dumb teenager), and might have glazed over more subtle plot elements. I found my Michael Clayton DVD the other day, so I'm excited to do a George Clooney political/corporate thriller double feature. I wonder what Monsanto conspiracy has kept that from going up on streaming services. ![]()

This is like the first April Fool's Day joke in forever that I have thought was even mildly clever. On topic, season 4 of Louie is up and is probably the weirdest season of a "comedy" show you're likely to see. There are almost no jokes in it, for one. It's more like one long surreal art movie, but in a good way.

Louie season 4 is the weakest one so far imo. There were definitely good moments and episodes but most of the Pamela stuff rubbed me the wrong way.
