Art sites, especially competitive ones, turn into a primadonna contest quickly and a circlejerk forms where the elite nerd core of tale talented ones just want lesser members to tell them they are awesome. The last thing they want is new talent taking the imaginary spotlight try think they are under.

Eventually new people stop posting and it gets stifled and everyone migrates to the next most popular site.
