This is the way that bottle service works at most nightclubs. The only way to make sure you get a table at the club is to reserve one, which requires bottle service. Typically it would be a $400-500 bottle of Grey Goose split 4-6 ways and it includes whatever you'd need to mix with it. None of the numbers on that receipt are so shocking (except the $100,000 in champagne), especially at Foxwoods / Shrine where everything is crazy expensive.

Yup. Plus from what I read each player gets $163,000 bonus for winning the cup on top of normal salary and whatever contract bonus they might have. Honestly surprised it wasn't more.

Contrary to popular belief, tic-tac-toe isn't purely a game of chance.
It's even dumber. MtGOX (Magic the Gathering Online eXchange) is the one that lost all their coins and went bankrupt in like 2014. This guy is sitting on a hypothetical claim from the bankruptcy which is probably never materalizing.

Mt. Gox lost like $500 million, but then they discovered 200k Buttcoins that didn’t get stolen. Then Buttcoins went bananas and that remaining balance was suddenly worth 4 billion.

It’s worth 1 billion now, so everyone who lost money might get twice their losses back. But darn it, those unregulated investments take so long to untangle legally. If only they’d invested in something backed by a government.

One Google search is all the fucks I could muster, so who knows. The article seemed to suggest the money is currently in limbo, so it’s probably wasn’t returned to Karpeles.

There are definitely ways to get money on the backend of these grifts. Most of the Madoff suckers got at least their principal back as they slowly untangled that mess. Granted the ‘investors’ who got big returns had some claw backs in order to do it.

The last I heard (which was a while ago) was that the Japanese government was going to liquidate enough of the remaining MtGox Bitcoins to make the account-holders whole on the JPY value of their accounts when Mt. Gox went bankrupt (when the price of Bitcoin had crashed due to Mt. Gox going bankrupt, making their BTC holdings relatively worthless) and return the remainder of the Bitcoins to Mark Karpeles and the other owners of MtGox. Of course the MtGox account-holders are angry at this because the price of Bitcoin has spiked since the MtGox collapse (which is, ironically, the only reason they stand a chance to be made whole at all) so they're arguing in Japanese court to try to get their BTC balance paid out 1:1 in Bitcoins instead of the then-equivalent JPY.

Professional baseball players get paid twice a month only during the regular season. This goes all the way down through the minor league where the monthly salary is less than $2000. Going to the playoffs in minor league baseball costs players money because their off-season jobs usually pay more. They also have clubhouse dues that take most of their per diem. Unless you got a good signing bonus or are guaranteed to hit the 40 man roster, MiLB is really bad with money.

What's your 'I finally met my online friend' horror story?

quote:

Guy I knew in college met a girl online and spent every day talking about her. She lived about 6 hours away, so he planned to take a semester off and pursue this relationship.

He got a job in her town and asked if I'd hep him mov out there since my car would hold more than he could take on a bus.

I had a long weekend off and figured, why not? A road trip cold be fun. I'd drive him out as a goodbye present, and the way back I planned to visit Yellowstone.

Well... We arrive and it turns out he doesn't have an apartment lined up and... He found a job posting in his girlfriend's town, he hadn't actually gotten the job. Or even applied yet. I make a bunch of phone calls and find him a room to rent that will let him move in that day with just first, last, and deposit, even without a job.

I'm tired and disgusted with his lack of planning, but figure it's worth staying the night and trying to end things on good terms with my buddy. Then he breaks down and confesses that he hasn't actually met this girl. The nights he spent "video chatting" with her were really just him watching her vlog and jacking it. They've never talked. Never texted. Never even emailed. Hell, he's never even left so much as a comment or "like" on one of her videos. She genuinely didn't (still doesn't) know he existed.

His plan was to hang out at this game shop she talks a lot about until she showed up and someohow create a relationship from that. He thought that they'd meet and she'd fall in love with him and move back to our college town to marry him... all before the next semester began.

That didn't happen. Instead, I made my "buddy" buy a bus ticket for his ride back to school and left. He came back to school and got more cringey, not less. I lost track of him after that.

after college ended i was playing a game called EVE-online. i was in a corporation with a dude who i thought was the coolest. he had sold poo poo in game for real world money and had built a super computer. he had a smoking hot girlfriend, and had pictures of them rockclimbing doing some super cool poo poo. he was also like a head chef where he worked and since i was a chef as well... well... i had a little bit of a bromo crush on him.

he told me after i graduated that he could hook me up with a manager job and all i had to do was move up there. i sold everything i owned that day at a pawn shop and bought a uhaul and started driving.

1 hour before i got there(it was like a week long drive) he called me and told me the job was no longer available and i shouldnt come. when he found out how close i was he said to just come anyways. when i got there i was compeltely blown away. they lived in a disgusting section 8 apartment with 4 other people... in a 1 bedroom apartment... they had like 3 cats, which im allergic to, and a kid as well.

day one it was all drugs and partying. i did not partake. i was not enthused. day two i went into the city looking for a poo poo job to survive. i got one. it was poo poo. day three my "buddy" tells me where all moving out and into a nice apartment. week 3 we actually move into a new apartment, and the first night in that apartment he starts beating his smoking hot girl in front of their kid.

the second time he beat her, i called the cops. him and his girl immediately said i was the bad guy and that they were just loving each other... they had the cops escort me from the apartment.

so there i was, 1700 miles away from home, homeless at 2am, and its loving raining on all my poo poo...

https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/bqq70e/would_two_18_year_olds_be_able_to_live_together/ posted:

Greetings Reddit. For a bit of background, I am a soon-to-graduate senior in high school, and a friend of mine turns 18 in August and is going to be a senior this Fall. He goes to a trade school.

My basis for asking this question is that this friend is being kicked out of his home when he turns 18 and has found nobody else that would live with him, and I (currently living with my parents) planned to move out soon as well. He doesn't want to live on his own, and likely couldn't anyway while working wages and doing school. Though I didn't plan as early as August to move out due to obvious reasons, I'd feel guilt knowing that someone I know is homeless and there's a chance of me stopping it. I'm aware this is more of a moral dilemma than a monetary one, but because finance was involved I felt it would be appropriate to ask the above question.

Here are a few notable factors:

We'd both probably be making $8-9/hour
We both live in Ohio, meaning there'd be a lower cost of living(?)
He'd be attending school still, while I'd be working full time
We both are capable of driving and would both have cars
He already has a job at Subway, and intends to go to college after he graduates high school (2020)
I've never been employed anywhere, but plan to work there with him at the beginning of June, and already planned to take a gap year before attending college for unrelated reasons.
I'd appreciate any words of wisdom I can get for this scenario. I intend to do research about, well, being an adult because I know nothing about owning or renting a place. Should I just tell him to do his own thing for my own sake, and move out when I'm more comfortable, or would it be wise to take this chance at having a roommate while also helping someone out who truly needs it? I can answer any questions below, and, thank you for reading.
