There would need to be some punishment for getting yourself crushed (not insta-death, but maybe 10-20% damage), but otherwise it's exactly what I want from a stage like that. A Dunk Hunt stage with a cross hair that can shoot players every so often. If it knocks the player off the level, the dog pops up and laughs.

This is actually what I'm counting on with the Wii U gamepad. This or some kind of 4 on 1 battle mode where the 1 has a hilarious advantage. The Duck Hunt stage Spacebump mentioned would be a prime candidate for this kind of treatment.

I would kill for a Pokemon stage that was an actual location from one of the older games. I think it always felt like they just kinda phoned it in by adding a bunch of annoying hazards to a good idea with the 2nd Pokemon Stadium. "You know what people love? Treadmills, weird jump physics, and slipping on ice constantly." I always thought Fortree City could be cool with the treehouses, bridges, and maybe some almost invisible Kecleons appearing randomly to gently caress with poo poo. Although it's probably not likely for that gen to get any stage representation at this point. Ambrette Aquarium or the Marine Tube would be cool from a more recent game, but it looks like X/Y already has 2 stages reppin'. I love underwater Pokemon so much, though.   Or PokeFloats. e: actually since I haven't played X/Y yet, I just checked out Ambrette Aquarium. I was thinking it would be big like Marine Tube, but it looks tiny and like it would be a lovely stage. What if there was a stage based on the underwater portions of Hoenn? That would be awesome. Not if it affected the physics, obviously, because who the gently caress likes underwater stages of anything, but if it was set on the ocean floor, with big fuckoff deep sea mons swimming all around, Clamperl and Chinchou and stuff peeking out of the seaweed? saw this idea on another forum and thought it was neat. In the Press release shots there's this Namco item from Rally-X and a whole bunch of other Namco games as a running gag. Charizard seems to be holding it up like an Assist trophy so maybe it summons Namco only IP characters? Galaga ships are already in this game too, so maybe we really will get Dig Dug, Xevious and others in Smash.

 Space Invaders is Taito. But if there is a Namco assist trophy it stands to reason that there is a Namco character in the game. So we're talking Pac-Man or the Solvalou fighting like that car in Virtua Fighter.

The only use I know for that thing is that when it shows up in a Tales game, it lets you switch the onscreen party member. So obviously this is the item version of Manaphy from Brawl and you'll momentarily switch to one of the other characters in the match. ...poo poo, I actually kinda like that idea. Surely it won't be that though. What does it do in other namco games?

Well I'm excited for the 3DS version, however I'm a bit disappointed that they removed both Ness and Lucas and haven't announced any Earthbound characters. I mained Ness pre-Brawl and Lucas in Brawl and no other characters come close to their play style.
