Gonna give you a little insider baseball here and tell you that openerup is not going to do anything about the need for massive amounts of state bailouts. Hospitals have lost 8 figures worth of income over the past 3 months.

When I say hospitals I don't mean it collectively, like in a city or in a state. I mean INDIVIDUAL hospitals. Health care is going to collapse either from bankruptcy or austerity bullshit so extreme the hospital may as well just not exist anymore due to lack of providers/services.

I've heard gloves are fine but you have to be careful when removing them or you'll infect yourself

If I wear gloves and then when I'm done I disinfect the gloves with gel, that should be fine right? Also wearing my mask and a face shield

Sanitizing gloves with alcohol is fine, it will not effect their integrity (dunno how long you could do it for, but I'd expect at least a full shift). In fact, proper textbook PPE donning/doffing in hospitals for isolation patients is to use alcohol on the gloves right before entering the room and then when you leave as the first step of doffing process.

Removing latex/nitrile gloves safely is pretty easy to do: https://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/pdf/poster-how-to-remove-gloves.pdf

southern NH (Chud Country) trip report.

I went to see about getting a haircut today. Supercuts was doing it right - the door was locked and they only let one person in at a time, but there was an hour wait.

sportsclips had a guy checking people in, with a mask hanging on his neck. nope. The Home Depot to the right wasn’t letting people in without masks but once you go in they’re not enforcing it. the crappy local Walmart wasn’t doing anything.

The local Y opened on the 4th! it wasn’t open yet for the day though.

lots of Trump signs on 125.

local restaurant had opened outdoor dining. Not a mask in sight. All the small strip malls were empty as I drove north, but it was still early.

finally, I arrive at the Walmart pick up (I have to drive 20 minutes to this because gently caress going inside the lovely local one) The pick up people are wearing masks, the young people and older men are wearing masks but I didn’t see a single older woman with a mask on.

You should remove disposable gloves by turning them inside out starting at the bottom of each glove, minimizing skin contact with the first glove and wedging your finger into the inside of the second glove without touching the surface.

As was said before then sanitize/wash your hands if possible.

Ideally you'd change your gloves out frequently.

Hand sanitizer isn't meant to disinfect surfaces, even if it might work in a pinch.

Also exactly how damaging and reckless would it be to accuse the outbreak of covid in Arizona on "leaving the state to be outside instigators at all these big city rioting events"? As far as I know Arizona hasn't had significant protests or rioting, so they have no "day of the living dead" bogeyman to blame for all these mysterious pneumonia cases.

I am in Construction and have to wear a mask for the better part of the day, and I found a mask solution that is pretty comfortable for me so I'm sharing with yall.

Masks that clip behind the ears are annoying to me and often don't fit the face tight enough or too tight and pinch the ears. So I found one with long strings that I could tie behind my neck and at the top of my head, like how the n95 respirators do. Of course tying it was still tough to get the right tension and it came loose or was bulky or took too long to tie. I bought a pack of plastic cord locks like from a backpack that work great. I can easily cinch the mask down and loosen it to take the mask off. The only issue I have is getting my hair stuck in them, so it works best over a hat.

I put one string I used each direction so it's not like a little ponytail and stays close to the head, and I tighten by pulling each string.

Do you need gloves? Like, is there something wrong with your skin? If you are sanitzing the gloves anyway, you could just sanitize your hands. Your hands are not going to soak up the 'rona (again, unless you have a skin thing).

I'd wear a face shield before I'd bother with gloves, because while it's unlikely that anyone will cough in your eye it's not impossible. Oh, you are wearing a face shield, good on ya.

Gloves aren't as uncomfortable as a mask, but there is some discomfort and hassle involved, and every extra discomfort increases the you'll get tired and stop doing stuff. I've seen lots of clerks wearing gloves but not a mask and I'm like whaaaaat? Best practices would have you changing your gloves for each customer, and nobody does that.

Anyway, good luck.

that's a good way to go, I am masking up for ~8 hours a day at work myself and have been wearing a head band with buttons that sit behind my ears and pulling my mask straps around the buttons

I was starting to get some wicked chaffing behind my ears after the first week and this really takes the pressure off

I work in a hospital and go into covid areas a couple times a week (computer toucher) and I've worn gloves in the last two months exactly once.

You're gonna wash your hands anyway, just wash them and forget the gloves.

I do however hold gas pumps with a winter glove that I have in my car. I'm not surrounded by sinks and sanitizer at work and it's only a couple minutes.
