There's no goddamn way that was made with natural sapphire. It has to be a lab-grown block worth probably a few thousand. Most of that price-tag is just a stupid tax on people who see the word Sapphire and assume this must have been some rare gemstone. The largest blue sapphire ever found fits in the palm of you hand at it would have taken a stone at least that size to carve something like that watch case.

And you can get *sheets* of lab-grown sapphire. Smaller 6-inch cutoffs are even affordable by high-school lab and DIY enthusiast standards. Which is pretty drat affordable.
