I didn't have a problem on Bloodbath despite the Slash cards in my deck. I think I got a lucky early stagger, then just nuked it with an All-Out Attack since immunities still become fatal on staggering. This is an advantage I will use repeatedly moving forward. Edit: Of course, this also meant I didn't properly learn the importance of reading the enemy until later, which was a painful lesson. I think I did not learn the "you can skip playing cards" lesson here, but there's a different abnormality fight quite soon that reiterates it much more strongly. I'm trying not to get too far ahead of the LP but I've really liked the handful of abnormality fights I've seen, they feel a lot more focused in the puzzle design than most of the main-plot receptions at this early point, which have instead mostly just been "here's some guys with a couple new cards or a slight bonus to <X>, beat them up."

Abnormalities on the other hand are alien. They're out of context problems, and if you try to fight them like they're people you'll get eaten alive. They have weird abilities and cards too powerful for players to ever hold - Bloodbath's instastagger card would be mandatory in every deck ever if you could use it. Both visually and mechanically, they are something other. Unnatural. It's very interesting storytelling through gameplay.

Abno fights are a lot more puzzly than the early fights are, they're a lot harder as a result but getting extra fighters and the abno cards are well worth it. Bloodbath's bonuses are... not my favorite, but we won't have to wait long to see better ones. Also while Zaida's been called back from permanent break, it's still more lenient a workday than LobCorp. All she might have to do is beat up some nerds or handle some old-hat suppressions and she gets to go back on break right after!

Yeah I'm another one who didn't learn the "you can just not attack its cool" fight for another half-dozen or so Abnormalities; I stonewalled once due to a lot of slash but powered through normally after just rejiggering my deck towards blunt damage. I'm still not very far in, taking it in small chunks, but I feel like just in general there's no shame in taking more than one attempt at even the very early Abnormalities, sometimes you just need to see how they work first and that's just fine.

Deep Dish Fuckfest posted:Wasn't LobCorp written in C#? I guess they switched engine since then for some reason if it's C++ for LoR? For the random number generator thing, modern C++ gives you access to different random number generators and has a whole module dedicated to doing that. It's not too hard to get some high quality but still cheap to compute random numbers, so I'd have expected them to use that. Alternatively they might be using the ancient C rand() function, which is probably more likely to have issues like that. So what I'm saying is, Project Moon might still be partly to blame here, depending on the details. Sindai posted:I'm skeptical of that RNG comment unless it was made by someone who's very familiar with the code. A bias bad enough to actually be noticeable by human players in a game like this would take a serious programming error since C#'s Random class should be fine for anything short of actual cryptography. It'd make sense if they were using rand(), which is... bad, basically. Even though <random> and everyone's favorite algorithm (the Mersenne Twister) exists.

I realize it's just because Lenny uses her own key page (as opposed to a Lenny-specific version), but still, ![]() that's not your bag, Zaida. Have some respect for the dead/booked. ADD: realized it as I was finishing, but there's something beautifully ironic that Zeta21, the former clerk (they of the infinitely interchangeable men and women in suits), is now dressed like a hobo while on the job. I guess there's no dress code in the Library. NullBlack fucked around with this message at 03:41 on Sep 6, 2021 |

For those of you who haven't read the LobCorp LP, and are very confused as to why the thread is adoring our first Librarian's Assistant, Zeta21 first shows up on Day 11 as a nameless Clerk who became a thread darling by turning around and walking away from multiple potential threats, rather than charging blindly to their deaths. They get promoted to full Agent on Day 13, and they become one of the leads of the story as it develops. What I'm trying to say is that with Angela and Roland being who they are, being balanced out by someone whose first response to a problem is to chill and go back on break is a good thing.

Zaida is just as amazing as she was before. I wonder if she’s enjoying life more than she did in Lob Corp. does the lore specify if the librarians only take their human form for receptions or if they just spend time chilling around the library while waiting for the next Either way, she gets more time to relax and considering what we’ve seen of the world outside the library, probably has a much better fate.

Wait... this fight is supposed to be hard...? It was certainly harder than the previous receptions, but I still thwomped it. I had a lot more problems with Bloodbath, because the game never told me I could just not use cards. I must have gotten absurdly lucky when I farmed this reception. This is the last part of the game I’ve played, also, because I got distracted by other games, and lost access to my friend’s library because of a weird glitch we can’t figure out. Edit: oh right, people were having problems because they skipped the abno fight. Yea, doing this fight wih only one person and no abno cards would be harrowing. So a lot of the Fixers never mention their Grade in-game. Like, Yun mentioned that Eri's a Grade 8 now, but his Grade didn't get talked about. The artbook has the Grades of all the actual Fixers that show up, even if that's never said in game. Since I have that, should I post their info after people get booked without that being mentioned? Not sure if anyone but me's interested in comparative numbers, or if posting things out of a separate product would be a generally bad thing to do. It also has age, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc, but I feel like posting that much is almost definitely unethical. Doobeedoo fucked around with this message at 21:46 on Sep 6, 2021 |

I feel it's p harmless and fairly interesting to get fixer numbers. One thing I really like that Ruina does it provide context for a lot of terms that were just mentioned and then dropped in Lobotomy Corporation - for me it clarified just how strong Gebura was to be known as the Red Mist!
