Ratios and Tendency posted:Was Frank Shamrock as badass as that video makes him look? Frank got together with TK and Maurice Smith pretty early and they all trained together, which is why Mo wasn't completely helpless on the ground (he in fact used the "TK Guard") and Frank got competent at more or less everything. In addition Frank was a freak athlete and was one of the first guys to take conditioning really seriously. He benefitted most from timing, being competent all round during a point when most people were specialists and well-conditioned when most people... weren't. When he tried to make a comeback later it became apparent that most dudes had passed him by, and when he tried to coach fighters he failed pretty badly. Also you have to remember that both Frank and Ken came up with the pro-wrestling mentality and 90% of anything that comes out of their mouths is trying to sell you something. EvanSchenck posted:I love the story of Shamrock-Zinoviev. According to Frank, when he was fighting Kevin Jackson to win the title he noticed that the floor of the octagon was a lot harder than the surfaces he'd competed on previously (i.e. Pancrase ring). He figured that he'd have a big advantage wrestling and grappling over Zinoviev, so he decided that he would just grab him, pick him up, and drop him in such a way that he would be injured. Case in point.

To be fair to him guys seem to like him but I believe his coaching was mostly "let's just sit around in a circle thinking positive and write in your journals what you hope to accomplish ![]()

Which is a shame, because it robbed us of Joe Stevenson's Karate Kid knockoff theme song that I had on MP3 once upon a time. Anderson had one, too. DMX was a lot better.

UFC should have a rule where if you beat a champion bad enough you get to steal his personalized walkout song and they have to earn it back. And Bader vs Shad was previously announced as a 5 round card on a FS1 show which seemed appropriate. I now noticed that new UFC article says it's going to be on UFC 192 PPV. So the question becomes is how great of a PPV does UFC need to put together where you just gloss over Ryan Bader vs Rashad Evans for 15 minutes?

Personally if I had to guess, since Brown is scheduled to be on the televised prelims, it has something to do with licensing and specifically whatever the current relationship is between the FOX media conglomerate and whoever owns the relevant record label, but nobody has any actual idea except whoever's making those decisions, and they aren't talking at the moment. EDIT: colonel_korn posted:Remember when someone, I think it was Tamdan McRory, went on a rant in his post-fight interview because Dana wouldn't let him walk out to Dethklok? Good times.
