Hurney fell apart toward the end because he began to believe way too much in his own infallibility. He was brought in as a cap guy with minor evaluation skills and by the end of his tenure was acting like he could read tea leaves while throwing cash at guys on the downside of their career. Gentleman might have been a dick but he put together a good roster. We need a mix of the two. Shame we lost his heir apparent to buffalo.

I think that it's more that there are very few players in the NFL who can be a partner in something like that. It can really only be a QB, and there's only a few QB's that could warrant it. It's a long road from some dumb kid football player to end up dabbling in poo poo like white collar crime with shell companies and what have you.
