Surely legally they have no need to give refunds to people who bought pictures of spaceships? I had kind of assumed they had T&Cs saying they wouldn't have to refund, otherwise how would crowdfunding ever work, though I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean they have no legal obligation. Pretty much thought they were giving refunds just to keep the noise down.
