Why can't you people understand that the number of episodes is intimately related to how good those things are? Like, if you try to make four pies in as many days, you just won't be able to make all of them good. Do you want bad pie? Because doing numbers of pies sequentially is how you get bad pie.

It’s not that there’s something impossible about the episode count, but in practice the 13-heavily-serialized/bingable hours model they’re stuck with is consistently resulting in a lot of frustrating filler. Would be better either to tailor the length to the story, or have more standalones.

It's a combination of bad writing/bad production management in conjunction with an excessive episode count. And a short episode count did not save Defenders as was pointed out in another post.

And no, good writers are unable to write more than one episode. There are treaties and policies that prevent writers from being paid to write more than one thing.

You're all going the wrong way. Think of it this way instead: right now they do 13 episode seasons and let's say they have 1-2 really good episodes per season. That means they just need to have a 113 episode season and you'll get roughly 13 good episodes out of it!

Like a year ago I was bombarded with Iron Fist ads on youtube. It looked like total garbage and the ads were extremely annoying, so I recently checked it out to confirm my suspicions. Aside from bargain bin Keanu Reeves, who I thought was really good, the series was incredibly bad. Now I'm being brasted with Cloak and Dagger ads on youtube, another apparent wretched pile of garbage. Unfortunately (?) I can't find it on Netflix, so instead I'm watching this Defenders thing. This is truly awful. I'm getting the sense out of this and Iron Fist (and the Cloak and Dagger ads) that all of these Marvel things are in a competition to see which one can suck the most.

Luke Cage had some absolutely amazing songs that I'd never heard before, at least in the first half. I really hope there's some conceit for Harlem Paradise being heavily involved in Season 2 so we get the music back.
