I don't think DJ is gonna headline a PPV again until WME-IMG has earned 8 billion dollars and has sold off the company to Activision Probably not but it's satisfy their "champs must headline" criterion and it's hardly less attractive than the Holloway/Pettis interim fight. I mean that fight is insanely sick and cool but is it that big a draw? Then again Conor being stripped isn't a bad result at all.

You can't have a whole season of a tv show where it's building up the winner fighting for the title at the finale and then move that fight to PPV

IIRC they both played it off as a joke a couple days later when asked about it, but considering what we know about AKA, could Rockhold have gotten stung badly enough in training that it contributed to the Bisping KO while also not keeping him from getting medically cleared to fight?

Obviously Conor was holding up the division but handing the belt back to the guy that got starched in 13 seconds and then giving A.Pettis, who's sucked poo poo recently, a shot at an interim makes the division look like a joke.

The division has been a joke since Conor chained up the belt, put it in a box and buried it in the desert. They're hitting the reboot switch, the title doesn't matter until some fights actually happen.

Conor is not ever going to fight FW again. So essentially you have to look at it like Conor doesn't exist. In that world, Aldo obviously should be the champ. It is not a joke at all. Who deserves the belt more than Aldo? No one. It also can't be vacated because Aldo is the interim champ. If you see this as a joke, then thats a problem with you more than anything else. Conor is not a featherweight and never should have fought FW. He endured a brutal cut to pick on all these guys who are much smaller than him.

...and the pitch! posted:Let Conor fight for the belt if he wants it He doesn't, that's kind of the point. Man had a tweetstorm saying what an outrage it was he was off 200 less than an hour after the announcement was made. Days after being stripped of a belt and he still hasn't made a public statement on it. That's not the action of a man who had any current plans of defending the belt, and if he ever had them since winning the belt he sure didn't value it over his other plans of Anything Else. It was noticeable enough to everyone else around him that UFC were thinking about stripping him for at least months before they finally did.

The most telling hint was perhaps when they repeatedly told Conor, at multiple press events, to his face, that he was going to lose a belt.

I also like how Jose is currently zero fights removed from the best win of his career. Don't know why I'm bringing these things up but if you think the division is a joke you might be fully retarded.

That fight was weird because for me at least it just kinda happened. I thought it was boring but impressive at the time but looking back it was a way bigger deal and very impressive for Aldo. He came in and forced Frankie to play into his puzzle and nothing worked.

Aldo is ridiculously good and a fight with Conor what isn't ended by a meteor punch in seconds would probably be amazing. As cool as the 13 second KO was, it also probably denied us a FOTY contender. Ifs and buts, though.
