Is there some indication on each wheel on setting the torque of the center-locking nut? What is marking on the center lock that says "100 N-m ------ Stop" and how is it used?

I thought those had to be tightened to something crazy like 400 Nm.

You torque it to 100N-m, then mark the position of the arrow. Then you tighten it up to the stop point. It's similar to head bolts, where you do like 25ft-lbs, then 1/2 turn more.

Someone posted a elevation map of Bathurst/Mount Panorama Circuit which made me jump on YouTube hunting for old Bathurst videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWOq94g2HB0 This is from the 1991 Bathurst 1000 Tooheys Top Ten, with Peter Brock in a VN Commodore. Just as a follow up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bbZplBfzBw&t=30s Its another Peter Brock video, worth watching the whole video but I have this particular bit etched into my brain from when I was watching it live back in 1991.

I picked up a vintage brain bucket today: It's surely too old and beat to pass tech for any but the laziest autocross/18-second-class bracket racing, and rest assured if I ever get on a motorbike or do any serious car racing I'll get a proper new helmet with a chin bar, but it was $5 and has a badass bass-boat metalflake paint job: Totally worth it even if I only display it on a shelf. I'm thinking of getting a face shield for it and using it as my face protection for grinding and suchlike (too bad the visors don't come in arc-welding tint ) -- the snaps across the top seem to be a standard interface, so I've got plenty to choose from. I'm wondering what the snaps on the ears are for, though, nothing seems to use them. Fighter-pilot-style oxygen mask? Shield to keep the bugs off one's teeth when wearing goggles? Also what's with the little strap that comes out the back between the lining and the shell and snaps onto the outside of the shell? It doesn't seem to serve any purpose at all. (Edit: sticker on the back says "LSI-4170" (model #) and "Exceeds Z-90.1-66 & 71" whatever that means. Obviously a rating spec of some sort, but I don't know what.) Z90 1-66 is 1966 standard so I assume the 71 is 1971.

Cool helmet though.
