If you define work as the energy transferred to or from an object via the application of force along a displacement, they might be the only billionaires to genuinely do 20,000 times as much work as the average human, for about 11 milliseconds. e: Assuming ideal gas laws, and an external pressure of 64 atmospheres, the temperature in that submersible would have peaked at about 1200 Celsius during the implosion due to the Diesel effect. I once lived in a house in university with a furry and he was by far the weirdest housemate I've ever had. He would play second life and making all manners of weird noises at night, and occasionally during the day march around the backyard holding a union jack with a paw print on it. We even found his blog one day where we discovered he had burned down his family home one time because his fursona was a dragon or something. He also would draw dragon porn and post it online. That's the extent of my furry experience.

OceanGate's long term plan was to explore for new oil drilling, which I genuinely consider worse than being a nazi (ovbiously not the ones who drilled for oil before they knew they were killing the planet), and I hope one day we will see "crimes against the planet" have its own nuremburg trials. The billionaires could have been the most anomalous, miraculously ethical billionaires ever to have existed, but their death has still made the world a better place. The son would have inherited billions from his dad, I have no sympathy for him either. If you set up your wealth like a royal lineage, you can't complain that you make your kids a target when you do that, that's the game as you defined and played it.

There was also a fixed pay rise of £250 at some point so everyone got that (fairer than % rise IMHO which just increase disparity between lower and higher income folk). I did about 20 years ago, and I still live sort-of nearby. I occasionally have to go there due to work, and the town centre seems a little more hollowed out each time.

I agree with how bad these people are... but them dying doesn't really solve anything. It just passes their wealth down onto some other piece of poo poo. Like you say about their wealth passing like a royal lineage... Like, if literally every billionaire died tomorrow from some kind of freak event, then aside from that being a very strange thing to have happened, nothing would actually change in the world, because their wealth would just get passed down to the next member of their dynasty, and we still will have approximately the same number of billionaires and ultra-rich people, who will start/continue to pervert the direction of society, business and politics to their own ends. It wouldn't be a case of "Oh, all the billionaires are dead, we can get on with building a socialist utopia now!", it'd be "Yeah, I'm wearing the boot now, motherfuckers".
