I learned two things from this picture. First that my plan wasn't as stupid as I thought and two poo poo you have for farting around with a trainer sticks.

bunnyofdoom posted:Third hack of the night was the best hack. Lucked into someone trying to get a Ctos tower. I hacked them, then hid behind the tower. Never found me. I figured, as soon as I was done, might as well do the tower. I got hacked. Dumbshit was literally standing in the alley. One grenade took care of it. I was trying to get a vehicle into the "carrier" loader at Brandon Docks to drive over onto a ctOS tower and got invaded, and then came back and most of the luxury sedans I tried to fit into the same carrier just flat-out blew out all 4 tires when I'd try. Pickups and ricers work, though! Also, that 1911-SD from pre-orders is mega-helpful for being invaded since it makes the cops not immediately chase you down when you spray 40 rounds at random pedestrians and/or the appropriate target.

The most immersion-breaking thing for me is - do people really regularly store hundreds of dollars in their glove compartments? I can believe drugs and weapons, but come on.

Top Hats Monthly posted:This seems sorta gimmicky like it's going for shock value. Is that correct? I don't know... Maybe? I guess it's supposed to be what people do in their private time when they think no one is looking but out of the 15 or so privacy invasions I've done all but two have been for shock or are straight out depressing. Take for instance the invasion where it shows a guy laying on the floor and you check his voice mail. Guy is obviously dead and it's his son calling to check on him and that he's coming by after work . That said the one where the guy is going 5 out of 10, would not bang just make you cringe it's so cliché. That was one of the invasions that weren't flat out depressing

How do invasion warnings work? I've managed to spot/kill a couple of invaders before anything came up saying I was being invaded. On the flip side I've tried invading people without starting the hack and they seem to realize I'm there and start searching so presumably they got a notification. Ex: http://a.pomf.se/gtxkae.webm

Also all the side stuff is pretty fun, infiltrating gangs and beating down the leader, saving people, stealing cars. There's a ton to do other than the campaign, so this game is gonna be decent value even though the story isn't so perfect.

I've mostly stopped doing the campaign and have been doing side missions. Once I get those done, the collections and such, I'll resume the main campaign.

Man, I hate sore losers. Basically, I got an invasion in the worse place, a road through the mountains, no cover. I managed to be like loving sasquatch, and hack through the trees. 84%, dick quits.

Yeah my very first invasion I find the guy, hack him and he runs around for a few seconds before jumping in a car and taking off. I guess he thought he could just out range it or something. Never see him again, get to 98% and he quits out.

^^^ Or run them over if they're upset about you jacking their car. Doesn't even need to be a fatal hit! Any hit stops them from finishing their phone call when 911 asks "could you please repeat that?"Speedball posted:Protip: Crouch behind cover during invasions. It really helps a lot. It's a good last-resort move to get that final 10-15%, but if you spend the whole time in cover you stick out like a sore thumb once the circle shrinks and the civilians ran off.

Speedball posted:Protip: Crouch behind cover during invasions. It really helps a lot. Another protip that I haven't seen posted is that focus doesn't slow down time when someone is invading. So use that and the fact that someone almost always invades after you finish an invade and you'll know the moment someone joins and can start setting traps. I'm something like 40 in the trailing leaderboards. I mostly do it quick so I can murder some unsuspecting invader.

I've had the most fun so far following a fire truck around the loop, raising every bridge it tried to take out of the area. It kept circling around to find a new route until I overheard them get a call on the radio that the fire was off and they could return. Also, I found this somehow

Random, and so do they. I got my head blown off by a fat old soccer mom. e] they'd just gotten killed by cops so I thought I'd be super crafty and hide in a cop car left crashed just off the road. Just playing the game I feel like the graphics are there to distract us from an otherwise average release. Like the hacking part isn't all that great in practice especially for loving around. loving with stoplights and traffic blockers never gets old, we thought it wouldn't when they showed us those two things in the first gameplay videos. Apparently those two things are really some of the only fun things to gently caress around with. What happened to new gameplay mechanics actually meaning something to gameplay wholly? Hacking is inventory gadgets, just integrated into the game world.... It's a gimmick, not a mechanic. This isn't a cry for a game to end all games. Give us an actual mechanic that means something that in itself adds actual replay value. Assassins Creed or Just Cause were far from being a game to end all games. But they had a mechanic or many small yet awesome mechanics (respectively) that made for some dynamic poo poo to be able to go down any time any where. Maybe I just need to make really complex schemes to enact and squeeze what little there is from this hacking... "thing". And I could totally see how the little mission generator thing could get old.

Wow. My playstyle just got 100% more paranoid after I randomly spotted somebody tailing me. Now that I've taken to occasionally coming to a complete dead halt and turning around and profiling everybody behind me, I've managed to catch two more. In the course of 30 minutes.

I love hacking the NPCs who call in bounties. Most of the invaders I've had aren't very subtle and it's easy to just blast them with an assault rifle. I got into a chase with one guy and actually wrecked his car by deploying the barricades, pinned him in with my vehicle, then jumped out and shot him through the windshield. Game fuckin owns.
