poo poo, my local store had one shelf of movies, in another room behind the cash register, you needed binoculars to see what they had. ("Yeah, could I get Rear Window?") If I went a mile, they actually had half a dozen shelves, one copy of each. If I wanted Blockbuster, that was 50 miles away. I'm in Alaska, so that one lasted a good long while until it was eventually replaced with... a battery store? I wouldn't think one would need that much square footage. Mostly unrelated, but one of the thrift stores near me always had some ridiculous number of copies of Independence Day on VHS, I think at last count it was around 2 dozen.

As someone who's had to go to a dedicated battery store before, I ABSOLUTELY believe they could use a Blockbuster sized amount of store. Maybe not using as much of the place as shopfront, but there are a bunch of variations you'd want to stock, and pretty much all of them are big and heavy.

Definitely possible to find plenty of movies that weren’t new, and those non-new release shelves were a majority of the store. I remember going into at least 3 BB’s and they were all like this, so that’s a bummer for the folks who lived somewhere that only had new releases at BB.

I remember circa 2000 my friend going to blockbuster and they didn't have The Shining. It wasn't that some had checked it out, they store just didn't own a copy of a very popular horror film by Stanley Kubrick starring Jack Nicholson based on a book by Steven King.

Huh I had no idea, and I loved munsters as a kid. I didn’t like the song, I think because it was everywhere. There was a good 3 years or so when it was on every video game soundtrack. Now, giving it another chance it kind of rules.
