They're both complete and utter disappointments who were somewhat cool at first like when Bernie was running for president and getting everyone hyped up for real change in America or when Zack made that surprisingly decent 2004 Dawn of the Dead Remake, only to let us all down like when Bernie became the Democratic party's bitch or when Zack directed basically any one of his Movies after DoTD.

It would be more interesting than anything JJ Abrams made, at least.

There is no emotional impact if it never stops to take time & get to know any of the characters. As it is, the cast is just a list of archetypes to check off on a box. Ok, we have force sensitive guy, sarcastic robot, plucky female lead with estranged father, (at this point I'm looking up the cast because I forgot them all), um... Some other people were there. Kind of the problem when reshoots and editing basically excises everyone's actual arcs. Rogue One is really lucky that it has a baller finale because everything up to it is a mess that was hacked to death on the cutting room floor.

Yeah supposedly Jyn was supposed to be part of Saw's gang from the start but Disney balked at having their protagonist be in the space Taliban and they had to recut most of the opening

Cannibal Llama posted:What if it turns out that Zack Snyder hates the prequels? Like, if he turned out to be one of those dudes who's constantly quoting the old RLM prequel reviews and thinks George Lucas is a hack and that his wife was the one who really saved Star Wars and even prefers the Sequel trilogy as bad as it is over the prequels? Where would your loyalties lay then? Your describing Simon Pegg, an actor that I like quite a bit! If that was Snyder, well he'd be wrong, but that's fine with me. How do you think enjoying movies works? I don't like watchman because I think Zach has the 'right' opinions about whatever, and I only like him as a director of good movies - he and Lucas seem like cool guys irl but that could just be clever PR and ultimately it doesn't really matter, I don't know them.

I'm 99% sure I remember Gene Siskel being really upset about White Men Can't Jump because he said it was racist against white dudes, which I guess it is? but who cares lol

last night I watched Marty with Ernest Borgnine. he plays a typical good-natured, blue collar shlub in 1950s fashion, but the guy culture of the era exposes him as a complete a-hole in hindsight. he's at once attempting to romance a woman, Clare, and calling her a dog to her face over and over again as she stares into his eyes. Marty's not trying to be offensive and Clare's very patient with him. There's a ton of pressure on them both to find someone to procreate with as he tells her how fat and ugly he is, I felt like I could see the first seeds of inceldom taking root. All they needed was to ship jobs overseas and a little austerity. It's a very well made movie tho, and a perfect time capsule. Marty and Clara are both super desperate to find someone. I was thinking it would be funny to see a parallel version of Marty, but set in 1950s Moscow with a guy who also works at a butcher shop and lives with his mom, and is trying to be a good Marxist and woman respecter but I don't know much about the culture of the time
