Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song, and there's always music in the air.
A while ago - maybe as long as 15 years ago - I was at a science museum and they had an exhibit on games. One of the PCs there had a point-and-click game with fairly good but very grey and gritty graphics. I didn't play it for more than 10 minutes, but I recall it took place in a train station. It might have been in some dystopian future setting but in my memory I think it was more old-timey, like 1930s or something. In the train station there was this haggard old man talking about something, maybe about being old or sick. The whole environment was kind of grey and depressing but really cool looking. Any ideas?

I googled "point and click mystery train station" and the only result I found was Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express, but that came out in 2006, so it's not that.

Maybe The Last Express? It's the only game of that type I can think of that actually belongs in a museum.

There's a huge train station in Syberia as well - and I'm pretty sure there's an old man in there somewhere.

Hmm...I kind of doubt it - although after watching some videos, I would totally love this game - but the graphics were definitely not rotoscoped. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'm gonna check this out now!

It looks kinda interesting (mostly because of the Guillermo del Toro name-drop in the wiki), even though interactive movies aren't really my thing. Good thing there's a demo version on the Apple store.

This is a bad recollection of the game because it's only thing I remember but hopefully it's memorable enough that someone will know what game it is.

I think the game was a pretty standard fantasy CRPG, not turn-based. At one point in the game, I think in a building or something, you encounter two cages, one with some cows and another with wolves. Interacting with the cows reveals that they can communicate with you telepathically. The cow pleads for you to release them but not the wolves because the wolves are evil I guess. It also says, "Trust me, cows are psychic." And I guess you can free them from the cage but I don't remember what happens after that.

So that's it, the only thing I remember about this game is talking cows.

I've had a question burning on my mind for a few years now, and I finally have proof that the game I'm thinking of exists:

This is from a family photo dated 1996. The game on the computer is what I'm trying to remember. Here's what I can recall:

- The game was either DOS or Windows, probably 95 or earlier.
- The game was either educational or basic puzzle-solving.
- It wasn't very hard despite my being really young, and the graphics were very cartoonish and child-friendly.
- There was another image my brother and I both remember, of what I think was the game's hub: a nice wood-paneled room with a fireplace and an easy chair, with some kind of... blue penguin sitting in it? I think he was a character?

Here's a closeup of the computer with labels of what's on the screen:

I remember that particular mini-game thing being about making music of some kind.

I know it's really vague, but it's one of the only games I remember playing that I can't find. I've searched archives of DOS games and such from around that time to no avail, and it's so frustrating :(

I played this game on the SNES or Genesis I think. I was an animal I think, and I tried to save the world from pollution or trash or something. It was a side scroller, and I remember really dark backgrounds.

Also, I think I was an armadillo or opossum. I don't think it was a good game (probably just a standard side scroller), but I liked it when I rented it waaaaaaaaaaay back when from Blockbuster.

Request #2.

It was a PC game. RPG/action hybrid maybe? I never played it, but I picked it up all the time in EB Games to read the back cover. I only ever saw it ONCE, and it was used and for like $10. I remember something about cows on the cover, and it was being launched by a trebuchet or crossbow.

I think the game didn't do well.

I'm looking for what I think is a freeware Japanese-made game.

In it, you are a what seems to be a commando character who infiltrates bases to complete certain missions. You can either stealth kill with a knife or throw grenades and you must rely on stealth. One mission is where you rescue some prisoners, another is where you need to disable a bomb. You had a limited amount of lives and no save point.

For a while I was convinced I knew this game. "Oh yeah, an audience watching the game and interacting with it! I recognise this!"... but then after about fifteen minutes of trying to think of the game I was remembering, it turned out that I was completely wrong.

However! Those simple cartoony graphics reminded me of early Windows 95 games by the company '7th Level', so I started googling around and found something that it might be. This is a complete stab in the dark, considering I've never played the games in question, but the Tuneland and Lil' Howie games seem to have the 'music-based, educational, mid-90s child-friendly and flat-coloured' thing going on at least.

I'm looking for a late 90s to early 00s action RPG on the PC.

The game featured Greek and/or Roman gods as the playable characters in a hack and slash sort of game, I think the game may have still used sprites, I'm not entirely sure.

I'm looking for an old DOS game that I watched my dad play when I was very young.

It took place in a casino, and featured several casino games (blackjack, video poker, etc). However, it had a point and click interface to go between rooms. One could exit and reenter the casino, as well. The thing I remember most vividly, though, is that you could go to some sort of self-help group meeting to clear your mind and increase your luck on the games.

Hopefully I'm not going crazy. Thanks in advance!

I am looking for a game that was a PC RTS in the same style as Red Alert. I played it on my brothers computer in the mid to late 90's. The graphics were alright from what I remember. In the game I remember there being 4 factions you could choose from. I don't really remember any of the factions or anything about the story mode but I do remember that the game started with a D. I want to find this game against and I know its vague but would really like help.

It's a long story
I've pitched this before and no one has ever gotten it. It was a commodore 64 game. You played on a sort of chess board. It was 2 player and each turn both sides would choose a piece and fight each other. Different pieces had different attacks and I think maybe each side had unique pieces. The only piece I remember was a bird. (maybe a phoenix) Its only attack was exploding, but it could survive explosions and keep exploding over and over again. I remember it was my favorite because it could dodge other attacks by exploding just before they hit.

I tried my best, but nobody I work with remembers, and Google keeps finding random PDFs. What was the name of the 90s (I think) combat flight simulator that came with a 3-ply code wheel? I'm pretty sure I played it on a Gateway 2000 running DOS/3.1, if that helps. It's not Microsoft Flight Simulator or Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, all of the aircraft I remember were jet powered.

Just the code wheel is a little vague to go on. What was the gameplay like, arcade or hardcore? Was there a campaign? Do any of these look familiar?

F-15 Strike Eagle III looks the closest, but I don't remember the menu very well. No mention of a code wheel either. It wasn't a Jane's game. Gameplay was hardcore, and there was a campaign, though I couldn't tell you what it was about. There was a mission involving the destruction of a bridge and a convoy in the same area, but I'm afraid most combat flight sims have that.

EDIT: It was on 5 1/4" floppies. Looking around on MobyGames (Thanks for that site, by the way) it looks like it may have been JetFighter II: Advanced Tactical Fighter, but once again, there's no mention of a code wheel for that game.

It sounds an awful lot like a game I had off a big freeware/shareware CD when I was a kid (it also had Might & Magic 2). I want to say it was *something* Raptor, but not the more modern F-22 Raptor game. Hopefully that helps your search. I can't really remember much beyond that and I can't do in depth looking at work.

Honestly, the only thing I remember about it was the bridge blowing up mission and a menu option called "Zulu Alert" which I played a ton because you didn't have to take off and land in that mode. :toot:
