Directed by: Guy Ritchie Starring: Jason Statham, Nick Moran, Dexter Fletcher, Jason Flemyng This is the first film by Guy Ritchie and is far better then Snatch. The movie is very funny, and the four main character pull off their rolls beautifully. The 4 main character, Bacon, Fatman, Soap, and Eddie all pool in their money towards a high rolling poker game. They eventually end up losing 500,000 pound and have one week to come up with the cash. To get the money they decide to rip off their drug dealing, criminally involved neighbors who end up ripping off 4 Hippy's of their ganja and a large sum of money. There's a lot of other subplots going on which includes the ganja Kindping of London, Rory Breaker, who is played wonderfully by Vas Blackwood. The last half of the film is pieced together beautifully with a laugh out loud series of events that you'll wish never ends. Overall, an excellent movie every enthusiast needs to see- especially if you liked Snatch. I'm not a very good writer so more reviews are welcome. RATING: 5.5 PROS: Good acting, good soundtrack, excellent story CONS: Can't think of anything ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120735/

Absolutely amazing movie. The way that Guy Ritchie is able to tell many stories at once and tie them together in the end, as done also in Snatch, is great. Many people think that Ritchie is just doing the same movie twice with Snatch and Lock Stock, but they are two uniquely hilarious movies and both worth seeing. 5.5

Outstanding debut by Guy Ritchie. While I thought Snatch had a more slick feel to it, this one has its content to speak for it, and a whole list of memorable quotes and characters that could fill a book. 4.5/5

I absolutely loved the buildup at the end. There are tons of little sideplots in this film that culminate in one hilarious pinnacle. Many memorable characters and it holds your attention throughout, despite its winding plots and characters. 4.5/5

I mirror what everyone else says, that this is a better movie than Snatch. Snatch to me was about style over substance. I felt like Ritchie was trying to see what he could get away with while still portraying a relatively-coherent narrative. LS&TSB succeeds better as a movie for several reasons. The eccentric underworld characters are more sympathetic and at the same time larger than life. The protagonists are the same sad-sack never-beens of the underworld but they seem to be drawn more completely, and appear more human. The plot actually seems to make sense as a narrative vehicle instead of as an excuse to do a series of 'gotchas' and twists and camera tricks. The rapidly evolving situation is shown much more naturally, and with much less work and self-congratulatory back patting. Basically I enjoyed this movie from start to finish. It's full of the wicked energy that is only partially communicated in Snatch, and should definitely be seen by any modern crime film aficionado. 4.5

I still find it amusing that Empire gave this a 2/5 stars. Or was it Total Film? I can't recall, all I know is I found it funny once and never wanted to watch it again. 3/5

I liked Snatch better, but as Snatch is my second favorite movie ever, that still leaves plenty of awesomeness for Lock, Stock. The worst I could say about it is that it has poor film quality, but you can hardly hold that against a new director. Voted 4.5, although I seriously considered a 5.

Totally gung-ho film making by Guy Ritchie, and it works. By hell it works. Snappy as hell from start to finish and full of awesome quotes and one liners, this will have you laughing throughout. Slightly better than Snatch IMO due to the breakneck pace, but both films are fantastic. Buy it. "Put your left foot forward and the other one'll follow, it's called walking"

I believe they lost 100,000. Lock has some amazing actors. And some truly spectacular character actors. Just for the acting you need to see it. I also enjoyed the style of direction. I bought the DVD. The director married Madonna not long afterwards, so that's how good a movie this was. 5

5/5 for slow-motion Bren gun action. "Where did she come from?" This is one of my favorite movies ever. See this especially if you liked Snatch (another great movie in my opinion). You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 I liked Snatch more, but this one was still pretty good. It's definitely better than Snatch in that the different plots were much more tightly woven- everything about each plot directly affected the others in some way. In Snatch, the diamond was really pretty much the only thing that solidly held together the Turkish / Tommy / Brick Top / Mickey plot to the Vinny / Sol / Boris / Tyrone plot.

Not as slick as Snatch, but a decent movie. Many of the same devices used in Snatch are used here to a lesser effect. Not as polished or dynamic as Snatch, the characters were less animated and less memorable as were the scenes they found themselves in. Lots of clever plot twists, but not a whole lot to distinguish it from similar irony-laden crime comedies. The movie can be summed up as a British underworld Gift of the Magi. Rented this one night many many years ago because there was nothing else on the new release shelf I hadn't seen. I watched it like 8 times that weekend, and had to order it from Amazon the next day. To this day it remains one of my favorite films, a beautiful blend of action, wit, and style, tied together by a tight, solid plot. Reminds me a lot of Terry Pratchett in that multiple seperate plotlines all tie together for a satisfying conclusion. Snatch tried to do the same thing, but couldn't quite pull it off. Hopefully his new film will be able to repeat. 5/5

Rated 4.0. It's a fantastic movie but it isn't quite perfect. Still, the drawbacks are few and the good bits more than make up for it. The soundtrack is excellent, one of the best I've ever heard. The plot, whilst not particularly complex is very well woven and everything comes together to form a very satisfying finish. The best thing about the film (and Snatch as well) is the obscene amount of quotes that you can pull from it. The dialogue in this film is superb in that sense, and there is something about a Cockney accent that adds comedy where you'd think it wouldn't be appropriate. A good performance from Vinnie Jones as well as the debt collector who has a soft side "Oi! You use language like that again son, and you'll wish you hadn't!"

Quite possibly one of my favorite movies ever. This is the movie that has gotten me into british ganster flicks (even though the only other two I have seen is Snatch and Layer Cake). The characters are believable (there are a lot of them) and the action is fantastic. 5/5

Is little less wild and ambitious than Snatch but the characters were all held together more tightly and were definitely more fleshed out. (Sting delivered an awesome performance, I remember that well.) 5/5 Edit: changed to 5 lan sam fucked around with this message at 05:00 on Sep 1, 2005 |
