Directed by: James Miller
Starring: The people of Israel and the Gaza Strip

I first saw this when it came on The Movie Network (TMN) and was instantly drawn in. Whatever your bias may be, it leaves you thinking. It was meant to be a two-part documentary by the director James Miller, this particular one following the lives of Palestinian youth with the other film portraying the lives of Israeli children, if not for the fact that he was struck by IDF gunfire from an Israeli soldier and killed while filming. The interviews with the Palestinian paramilitary members were definately the most engrossing/disturbing part of the documentary, in regards to the topic of martyrdom and the role of the children in Palestinian life.

RATING: 4.0

PROS: Very detailed, gives an oft-ignored Palestinian view of the conflict
CONS: Unfortunately with all documentaries, biased

Worthless on every possible level!
This documentary sucks. It sheds no new light on the conflict, I don't think anyone is shocked that we learn that hate is engrained into the children even. No one would ever watch this documentary if it didn't get a lot of attention because the mastermind of the operation was shot by Israeli forces. The directors aims were to also interview Israeli children, so we don't even have the complete directors view here. I think it's a sad attempt to cash in on a tragedy that should have just resulted in production being halted.

1/5
