de·spis·er - di'spI-z&r / noun
one who despises

phillip j. cook presents here a muddled messianic fantasy smuggling vague christian values in the guise of rollicking supernatural adventure with a philosophical slant. handsome leading man mark redfield is gordon hauge, randomly selected savior of the realm of purgatory who sets out to blow up every rag-headed ne'er do-well operating under the command of the shadowmen, who themselves answer to the mysterious and titular DESPISER. along the way he is aided by allies such as a plucky young woman with an ever-shifting accent and a wise japanese pilot who is obviously not japanese but put on eyeliner and squinted to fit the part.
through the twists and turns the real star of Despiser is the cgi work which is used at every possible opportunity--cg monsters, cg sets, cg landscapes, cg vehicles, cg explosions, cg bullet wounds and cg buildings crafted with a distinctive style which gives the film (video, technically) the look of a cutscene from a playstation 1 launch title.

please do not give away the shocking secret of the despiser's origins.
