Directed by: Ang Hung Tran Starring: Tran Nu Yên-Khê, Man San Lu, Thi Loc Truong, Anh Hoa Nguyen, Hoa Hoi Vuong This movie is breathtakingly gorgeous. Tran has a vision that I'm not embarassed to call intoxicating. This is not an especially deep film, and not a whole lot happens in it (though the themes of love and family and connectivity are sufficiently engaging, insightful and touching). But it's not just the subject matter that attracts me to Tran's movies. It's the way his camera moves... or sometimes refuses to move. It's the way he picks out some incredibly beautiful detail, either visual or emotional, and not only allows the viewer to enjoy it, but allows his actors to enjoy it too. Again, the word that comes to mind is intoxicating. RATING: 5 PROS: beautiful and touching CONS: very slow; may seem pointless to some ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0107617/
