Directed by: Peter Raymont Starring: Romeo Dallaire! quote:The story of Canadian Lt. Gen. Romeo Dallaire, and his controversial command of the United Nations mission to Rwanda during the 1994 genocide. Somewhat based on Romeo Dallaire's book Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda, Peter Raymont follows Dallaire around Rwanda in his first visit back to the country that changed his life, and on the 10th anniversary of the genocide. This is an outstanding documentary - Raymont literally follows Dallaire around Rwanda to such sites as massacre zones, the place of the murder of UN troops, the united nations headquarters, the University of Rwanda (where Dallaire gives a speach). It's amazing to see Dallaire himself recount what happened, and reflect on what could and should have been. It's absolutely brilliant, moving, and actually provides different points of view - from current president and former rebel commander Paul Kagame, Relief agency leaders, Dallaire himself, Belgian ministers, UN chiefs and the people of Rwanda. If you enjoyed Hotel Rwanda, you must watch this for the true to life version. RATING: 5.5 PROS: Everything CONS: None ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424435/
