Ugh there's a vinyl version of the album coming out also. I guess I might get that with the Toh Kay version. Dammit.

LTJ streamed their Gainesville show online tonight. So I recorded it. Video quality was pretty bad, but the audio is ok. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWFOA3xhS2Q edit: lol got a copywrite notice cause of the songs played over the PA at the start and end of the set. Hilarious. Fateo McMurray fucked around with this message at 06:53 on Sep 1, 2012 |

I guess I need to pay more attention to the local ska scene. Where the hell do these bands even play? I was in Athens for a long time and the only ska bands that ever came through were The Toasters in 2003 and Distorted Penguins maybe once or twice. I've been in Columbus for three years, know people who book local shows, and work for one of the major concert venues, and never even heard of a (local/regional) ska band being in town. I guess I was spoiled when I lived in Cleveland and there were a ton of local bands to fill in the gaps between tours.

Just got tickets for the RBF and LTJ show in Victoria, I am massive stoked. This is like 16 year old me's dream show, haven't seen either band before. We don't get nearly enough ska on the island besides Vic Ska Fest every summer.

Listening to the new RBF for the first time. I'm only one track in, but it's not nearly as bad as their last couple of records. I was in the minority in that I kind of--kind of--liked We're Not Happy Till You're Not Happy, but just about everything they've put out since then has sucked (save the live record). But this new one is kind of catchy. So, so, so pumped for the new SM record. I saw Tomas play an acoustic show in San Francisco a few months back, and he completely blew me away. And this was with very, very high expectations, as I *love* Streetlight Lullabies, but he played just about every song on that record, plus a ton of other ones that I didn't even know he'd composed acoustically. Can't wait to see him and SM support the new record(s). Also, this thread has got to be one of the longest on SA that's still running, right? It's almost five years old--which makes it all the more amusing that the very first reply is, "Let's talk about a dead genre." EDIT: I'm five songs into the new RBF and I think it's really good! Easily their best since Cheer Up (which, as a reminder, was released ten years ago). Brock Velocity fucked around with this message at 08:10 on Sep 21, 2012 |

That's not me! I had handed it off to my buddy at that point because holy gently caress that thing is hot, especially if you put the hood up. It's like a big itchy sweatbox. Those security guys were dicks, I went up during 1 800 Alarm Me and the dude basically threw me down the back stairs. I'm in a couple of crowd shots of earlier vids, I think? I think I see myself. Who knows, that poo poo was crazy. Also the best thing that those videos don't show is either the whole place singing That's What Friends Are For before the band came out or Jeff telling the crowd to beat the poo poo out of a guy that was trying to start a fight.
