Really? That sucks. I'm seeing them in Melbourne with the Smith Street Band next month. Really looking forward to it. I saw them support Bad Religion a couple of years ago and I enjoyed them a lot, but I was drunk enough that I wouldn't have even noticed if they were terrible.

I saw them in August last year and thought they were fantastic, but I love OTIP so....

Oh good. I love that album too, so I'm sure it'll be a fun time.

It was sweaty and everyone was singing all the words and crowdsurfing and having a great time. I saw them 2 nights in a row and I asked them to play Sun Hotel on the second night because they didn't on the first, which they did. I think the new single is great.

Also have a new Jungbluth track to make your day better: http://jungbluth.bandcamp.com/album/split-w-callow If you're not listening to Jungbluth you definitely should be because Part Ache was one of the best albums of last year. Heavy and aggressive but with massive melodic moments too.

I'm really into this right now! Recommend me something similar! Especially the songs that go hard, less so the slower ones. The 2nd one has some appleseed cast/90s emo vibes going on which I haven't listened to in a while so give me a refresher!

I want that guy who got freaked out by deafheavens singer to go to a thou show.

What do Thou do? I've never seen them live, but they don't strike me as a theatrical band, just a bone-rattlingly heavy one.

Are Bl'ast actually worth checking out or is this just some empty reunion hype thing?

Wow I actually had no idea that Gattaca were female fronted (ew, that term), awesome!

Everyone should also be listening to Punch and Cloud Rat. Also, Wolf Down are a guilty pleasure of mine. I quite like Oathbreaker too, but they're infinitely better live than on record imo.

Yeah Gridlink is great. I usually prefer my grind on the punkier/PV end of things, but these guys rule.

Also screamo chat: Sed Non Satiata's s/t has been ruling my world this week. Taking back everything I said about them being second rate Daitro.

I've been keeping an eye out in this thread for anybody talking about The Hotelier's album, "Home, Like Noplace Is There", which was released on February 25th. These guys used to be called The Hotel Year and put out an album called "It Never Goes Out" in 2011.

In my opinion, "Home" is the better of the two - pretty solid from beginning to end with no obvious weak points. "Among the Wildflowers" and, in particular, "Life in Drag" swerve into more hardcore territory, musically, but the rest of the album is pretty straight up emo/pop-punk that scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Soaring vocals and solid instrumentation all around! One of my favorite releases of 2014 so far.

Anybody else listening to this?

Just caved in and gave this a listen because I've heard so many good things about it. Don't really have much time for the 'emo revival' but I'm enjoying this quite a lot. It's complimenting my obsessive listening of the new La Dispute rather nicely.

e: Also Plebeian Grandstand is getting even better on subsequent listens, absolutely loving it. Can't believe they share a member (or members?) with Sed Non Satiata.

That's a hell of a bill! By the way one of the dudes from Deafheaven now runs a record label and put out a cool album by a black metal/hardcore band called Black Monolith. Whaaaaat. Have seen a few bands like Suburban Scum in the uk but never anything like that! Is this the precedent for that sort of band wherever you saw them? If that happened in the UK I'm pretty sure the venue would shut down the show, like when I saw Trash Talk in 2010. Lee started wrapping the mic chord around kids' necks and the venue shut down the show.
