I just purchased Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition and any remaining modules, so I should have everything "official" for the game. I know about the Player Resource Consortium mod which adds classes, spells and the like, but is this something I should be using on a first play-through? Any other mods out there that might be worth looking into? Is there a resource that ranks or reviews player-created modules, someplace that details which are worth downloading?

So I just finished Baldur's Gate 2 and I'm thinking of getting Neverwinter Nights and playing the two expansions as everyone says they are great but I was wondering if it would be better to just jump straight to Neverwinter Nights 2? Is one better than the other? Having just played BG2 I could care less about graphics so that isn't a huge issue, but gameplay wise and for the story should I play the 2 NWN expansions as everyone says? Or go straight to NWN2? Or would it be smart to play the NWN original content and continue on to NWN2 there? Is there any story overlap?

While most people can't stand the OC of NwN. I did enjoy it. I guess it's the hopeless romantic in me. The henchmen stories are well done. Part of the OC story that I really like is the story of the two brothers and being their judge.

So far as SoU is concerned, I don't think its' plot is any better then the overall plot of the OC. However it doesn't suffer from fetch 4 items in each chapter. Deekin and Mischa (mod) are the best NPCs in the expansion pack.

HotU is easily the best part of the NwN series.

While NwN 2 is good it does have faults. One of my biggest complaints with NwN 2 is that it forces certain NPCs on you in order to move the story along. The ending ish meh but MotB makes up for that. The Trial and Crossroad keep are well done. The NPCs are fairly well written.

MotB is one of the best RPGs written since BG2 or Planscape: Torment. I did not care for spirit gameplay mechanic.

I haven't played SoZ.

I liked both games, and despite the sentiment of other posters, I kinda liked the original NWN1 campaign. There is no apparent story overlap between NWN 1 and 2, and the story overlap among the NWN1 expansions is minimal enough to be continuous with the same character.

It's two expansions, Shadows of Undrentide and Hoards of the Underdark continue the same PC's storyline. Most people love HotU.

You are both wrong SoU take place at the same time as the OC.

Assuming you're talking about alignment...

Minsc - good
Jaheira - neutral
Kheldorn - good
Aerie- good
Cernd - neutral
Mezzie - good
Anomen - neutral (can be changed to good or evil later depending on your choices)
Haer Dalis - neutral
Imoen - good
Jan - neutral
Nalia - good
Valygar - good
Yoshimo - neutral
Edwin - evil
Korgan - evil
Viconia - evil (I think she can be changed to neutral in ToB)

In one of the G3 mods you can change Jaheira's alignment to NG. Which is what she really should be.

Viconia - You have to romance her to get her to be NG.

What is the level that you normally have at the end of the game? I know the game is capped at 100 and 127 with editing.

What is max the character and fate points in the game?

I grabbed the original Ghost Recon and both of it's expansions (Desert Siege and Island Thunder) a while back and now I have an itch for tactical FPS'ing.

Any tips? Does it matter what order I play them?

Play them in order. The companion AI isn't the greatest even with the 1.04 patch.

If a teammate is injured, he-she will be be unavailable for the next mission. Make sure you do all four objectives for each mission. This will unlock specialists that will make the game more interesting.

Use your other teams and teammates for covering fire. If there is mission critical object. You have to do it yourself.

Most of all have fun with it.

I play these games at least once a year. I'm not a fan of what UbiSoft has done with GR and R6.

Allright, thanks. :)

A couple more things.

Don't raise any skill (weapons, stealth, ex cetra) higher then 6. it's a waste of a mission point.

Depending on how you play the OC. You may or may not want develop the two anti-tank demo soldiers for the last mission. Personally I use Tunny (Demo specialist you can unlock) and one of the regular demo soldiers.

The OICW is one of the best weapons in the game.

Unlike what Ubisoft did to both of these series ((GR & R6) fast and arcadey). These games are made for the slow and stealthy.

In both expansion packs. You will have part of a couple missions be timed based.

If you have to reload a lot don't worry. The game can be frustrating at times because of the AI, both friendly and enemy.

It's the classic "you were abandoned as a child and raised by the mysterious man on the edge of the village". From there, it starts with the typical explore the village tutorial before setting you loose on the nearby world because monsters attacked your village.

You pick up various NPCs as you progress, sarcastic rogue elf, stoic drunken brawler dwarf, serious mystical druid, etc. and progress towards a major city, Neverwinter. The characters you pick up have extensive backstories you open up through dialogue/skill checks and reputation increases from agreeing with their point of view during encounters. Each character also has their own companion missons that pop up eventually and allow them to gain permanent bonuses/decide their loyalties.

The game kicks into "major world spanning threat" near the halfway point and you become a major player in the game world getting your own castle to manage. The keep management aspect is really broken and hard to figure out, but there are plenty of guides that lead you through it.

The game gets really, really good for a while then completely falls apart at the end. The last level is a complete slog, and while the final boss fight is really interesting the actual ending is god-awful.

Mask of the Betrayer is all around one of the best written and directed CRPGs ever made. The narration is incredibly well done, the characters all have complex and detailed personas and the high level combat is actually more then just "mages kill everything"

Sorry to nit pick but the rouge is a tiefling not an elf unlike the druid.
