Lmao, I bought a 2013 Genesis coupe yesterday. 3.8 r spec though.

For me it was quite the grown up decision to not get the turbo version. After having turbos for the last 8 years and loving all of it I decided to get something that was going to be less tempting to spend money on and therefore provide less stress. Even though the turbo version of the same car is actually more appealing and generally cheaper.

Going back to n/a, even with ~348 hp, jesus it feels slow and grandpa as gently caress. I swear to god I thought I got scammed with some i4 swap out of a honda until I looked at the speedo. My bolt on cobalt ss would whip this pretty soundly though, but I was expecting it.

Going to throw on some exhaust so I can actually downshift without looking at my tach, a shifter... and that's probably it. Maybe a intake so I can fit some catch cans for GDI. This is a very strange thought for me

I have some silly fender stripes I need to remove. Hopefully it won't be a bitch.

I'll never understand why people drop full coverage on cars. I just got my insurance reup a few days ago and the expensive part of the policy is the liability part. Adding in the rest only costs about 200 bucks every 6 months. Unless of course you drive a 500 dollar beater then full coverage is kind of silly.

Ya, but replacing a totalled 500 dollar car is at least doable compared to having to eat 4-5k or more if some dipshit with no insurance hits you just to save a couple hundred a year. My mom was talking about dropping collision on her 07 Dodge Ram, I had to remind her that the bulk of insurance is the liability and not the extras. People just aren't rational sometimes.

Rear plate. Also gently caress speed and red light cameras. In the US they are not enforceable and depend solely on you being guillable enough to pay the fine when you get a ticket in the mail that is neither hand delivered nor certified.

I've been pulled over exactly once since I stopped running a front plate in 2005. And the only reason I got pulled over was that myself and my mother in the box truck behind me were on a very well known drug trafficking part of I-10 leaving Texas. Although if you have to park in areas where there are meter maids, having one of the flip up plates will save you from getting a parking ticket.

NYC front plate laws are pretty strict and god forbid you go through a checkpoint without one. You might've not been drinking but the NYPD will assume you're a drunk, convicted felon with kidnapped kids in the trunk and ask questions later. It might be a $55 "fix it" ticket but you're essentially driving around with a big "FEEL FREE TO PULL ME OVER HERE'S YOUR PROBABLE CAUSE" sign on your vehicle. I'll drill those 3 holes underneath my bumper to avoid that.

Another reason not to live in NY.

Figured this would be a decent place to ask. When I go to pick up the new R (assuming it ever gets here. HURRY THE gently caress UP VW) I'm thinking about having it wrapped. How well do wraps hold up to rock pitting vs a 3m bra. The 3m bra on my TDI has 1 tiny nick in it that actually got paint. What I'm thinking is that I buy a color that will hold a bit more resale (or make it easier to buy when available) and instead of doing a 700 dollar full bumper/hood/fender bra like I have on my TDI just getting the entire car wrapped in something wonky. Just wondering how well the wraps hold up to rock chips. I plan to keep the new R for at least 6+ years so the wrap will keep the paint nice for the first couple.

Ya, the 3m has been outstanding. I'm just wondering how a vinyl wrap holds up compared to it. Its about 700 bucks to do the full 18" hood/bumper/headlights/fenders vs roughly the same cost to do a full car wrap correct?

It's my granddad's old truck, and has been sitting since his death in 2005. Me and my dad went to my grandma's this week and messed around with it, unsticking the brakes and clutch and carburetor float and so on. That's all it needed except gas in the tank and air in the tires, and I drove it 40 miles home yesterday at 45 mph. It seemed content.

1967 F-100, 98,000 miles, 240 six cylinder, 3-onna-tree, no frills. I'm planning on a light restomod but will probably leave the paint as-is. There are a few real rust spots in the typical places, cab corners and front fenders, but nothing structural. I'm not really worried about them. Right now, it's tires and brakes and shocks and seatbelts. Later, maybe some lowering beams and disc brakes. There are a few EFI 4.9's in the pull-a-part that should bolt right up to the motor mounts and transmission, but that's next year. For now, I'm just happy to have it home.

Nice. Same color as my brother's 69 f100. My grandfather bought his new also. It has the 460 in it though :) It's actually in the shop getting a full respray right now.

I like them a lot and they're not too expensive, $75 a tire for 195/60-15. They're not the best when it gets warmer (over 55°F) but they do their job and work great in the cold and snow. One also survived hitting a pothole that bent the steel wheel to the point it would only hold 25psi.

This is my fault but they seem to need to be rotated every 3000 miles. I left them for all 6k miles I drove last winter and the fronts were worn to about 35%. A friend with a 2013 Mazda 3 rotated them part way through and all four of his still look good and he has more miles on them.

This is the same thing I noticed. They wear fast, but they are just obscene in the snow. I finally put mine on over the weekend. Same size even. It froze pretty hard overnight last night and I was hooning around like a complete rear end in a top hat this morning trying to break traction. They're amazing.

It's weird to me that a warm spell in winter means your car is clean. Every car here has been utterly filthy for a week because the melted slush on the roads means all of the dirt and grime and poo poo (literally - dog poo poo doesn't get picked up in winter, for some reason) is splashing all over.

There are cars here parked near relatively quiet, residential corners where the drains are - those drains are clogged (with ice, leaves, random debris, and more dog poo poo) and even if only 3 cars an hour drive through that puddle, that parked car is turning a horrid shade of dark grey, regardless of the paint colour. I feel bad for the owners, you can't get into a car like that without getting that slime all over your clothes, too.

Clean is a relative term. Compared to how it looked last Friday before I ran it through the carwash it's still "clean". Sure it has some splashes up the side, but the roof and hood are still clean. And I can actually read my license plate :)

It's only got 18s!

I've been using rubber bands for over 10 years and have never bent a rim. Some people just don't know how to drive. The only tire I have used that has been over a 40 series is my winters. Drove my previous car on 225/40/18s with no issues. Current car is on 235/35/19s and haven't hurt any of those either.

But I also don't try to stretch a 5" tire over an 8" wheel.

I also quite like the wheels, I will be keeping them.

My 2 door TDI Golf is somehow more expensive than a 4dr TDI Golf on my insurance. Insurance makes no sense sometimes. I mean, it's got 140hp, what does it matter how many doors it has.
