This is pretty much one step away from it. The baby has become a sort of proof of God in their eyes. They may not worship it AS God, but they parade it around and praise God because, to them, it exemplifies the miracle of the living Word, or whatever. Holy Q posted:I AM A GOON. Actually, thats what they(as in fundamentalist christians) say. Even the most heinous and unthinkable events are brushed off with a simple "everything happens for a reason", "God has a plan/is in control" quip. Which is why rational people can't resist to pick at the "God is so loving perfect" bit. Just take a look at what this woman is doing. She was saddled with a great misfortune, a burden, and a bloody tragic circumstance. But she held fast to her beliefs because God is so good he couldn't have possibly done this to her without a drat good reason! Right? Right?! Can I get an AMEN?!

Jose Pointero posted:I guess I just don't understand what all the hubbub is about this. The woman seems a little religious wacky but who cares? If all of our knowledge about this condition are correct, she's not really hurting the child or anything. The whole situation just seems sad to me. The lady seems pretty timid and naive and made the mistake of putting this on the internet. Now everyone is taunting her, making fun of her religion and lifestyle, sending her drawn-out armchair psychologist messages when they don't even know her, calling CPS, etc. The woman wanted to have the child and try to enjoy it while it lasts. So loving what? Leave her be and go on with your life. The hubbub is that, as many in this thread have posted and discussed, she's become a poster-child for religious propaganda that is only feeding her already delicate psyche. This is not a coping mechanism we're looking at here, this woman is genuinely disturbed. And none of these people on her precious little blog are going to stick around for long after the inevitable fallout to help pick up the pieces. I do think that a part of her craves the attention, otherwise, why bother blogging at all? She gets to be a victim, a hero, and a chosen mother martyr of God all in one go! What psychotically devout christian could resist? Also, someone compared her earlier to the guy(the name escapes me right now) who kept his lovers corpse in his bedroom. And while the target of their affections and circumstance may be distinctly different, the modus operandi is quite the same: they are incapable of letting go.

"Rational" people are exaggerating that idea and the prevalence of it for the sake of reducing the entire lot to sub-intelligent things to be easily dismissed as a whole. I defy you to find me any seriously devout christian, fundamentalist or otherwise, who will claim that God isn't perfect, omnipresent, omniscient, and any other omni- they attest to. They will all default to the "God works in mysterious ways" and the idea that we cannot simply fathom his incredibleness, or other similar cop out. The more I watch videos of her brainless baby, the more I wonder whether she ever had any experience with babies when growing up whatsoever. Now I've never been one much for kids, but almost everyone has had baby siblings or cousins or nephews they can take note from. I never realized how downright amazing some of my friends kids are until I had this mockery came along, because suddenly I'm paying way more attention to their behavior and interaction with other people. I am so utterly baffled as to how this woman could believe that this child of hers is anything but lifeless.

Faithy is looking and feeling good And a mother knows when her baby is feeling good or bad, isn't that right, moms? I find I can pick up on the most subtle cues about what Faith needs or how she is feeling. We had to take a little trip to the ER last night to get a brand new tube feed, since they are only good for a month (ok, I'll come clean... I accidentally snipped her tube with the scissors last night when I was cutting her old bandage off lol). We met a young doctor there who was really nice. It really shows when a doctor has genuine compassion for his patients. And of course, the nurses were great too --as usual! A shout out to my peeps in the ER Hehe... All I see is her desperation ramp up as the baby worsens. Also young doctors are usually nicer because they haven't had their idealism ground out of them yet by years of cold harsh reality.

Apology posted:Thanks She was a good lady, and by the time she died, she looked just as bad as Terri Schiavo. It definitely wasn't murder to keep feeding tubes and ventilators away from her. Almost everyone who knew her rushed out and got the paperwork to fill out their own DNR, Advance Directive, and Medical Power of Attorney, so she schooled all of us on that, and I'm still grateful to her. On the flip side, a friend of a friend regrettably committed suicide some months ago when faced with a terminal condition herself. As I was not personally involved I'm sketchy on the details. But the general gist of it was that there was little they could do, and she was effectively going to die. From the moment she got the news she was adamant about not wanting to die drugged up to the eyeballs and hooked up to a machine in a hospital. But after weeks of constant dogging from her family essentially bullying her about her decision, and fearing that they'd somehow force her into a hospital, instead chose to take her life. Whether or not her family really could have done anything about it I'm not sure, as I'm not familiar with the laws regarding such things where she lived. But still, the mere idea of ending up like that was clearly horrifying enough for her to consider taking her life the more desirable alternative.
