I am listening to a podcast and they were just talking about Big Show being able to perform a moonsault and dropkicks in his early WCW days and how Hogan told him:"You're a giant, brother! You don't need to do those moves."
Who knows how true this story is?
The Podcast hosts were implying that Hogan was playing his normal games and not wanting Big Show to outshine him.The podcasters also seemed to think it would have been great to see Show performing these moves regularly. In my opinion,Hogan was giving Show good advice, even if for the wrong reasons. With Show's size I think those moves would have,if not seriously injured him then, they would have repercussions on his career longevity, not to mention his overall health and mobility in the future.
I would like to hear others' thoughts on this and also if anyone knows the validity of this story.
If someone wants to listen to this podcast it is the 6/01/10 episode of Pro Wrestling Insider. The part I'm referring to takes place around the 35:00 minute mark.Sorry that I currently don't know how to provide links.

He called Stephanie McMahon a gigantic whore in the Attitude Era, apparently did a whole lot of nothing from '02-'05 and at the peak of his current heel run, has been incredibly entertaining in a much different way. It's just, I notice that when people talk about how awesome Jericho is, they usually say ARMBAR or talk about conspiracies or quote anything else he said in that one year on the TV shows of a long-dead wrestling company.
It was probably his best comedic material.

In my many years of arguing against pro-WWE bias as a WCW and later a TNA fan, I eventually had to let down my guard and have one inalienable fact beaten into my skull:

People give WWE more credit when they do something stupid because they've earned a lot of goodwill. WCW earned enough goodwill to make it through the latter half of '98 with only a handful of good programs and matches. TNA earned enough goodwill in their good year to make it through their first six months with Russo at the helm.

WWE has earned every "Well, that wasn't that bad." they get when yes, it really was that bad. It was awful. But they've earned the forgiveness. They've done so much so well that they can coast along with a mediocre show for years so long as three angles a year are hot and fantastically written and the rest look like TNA and very few people call them on it. They earned that. That's where we are now.
Every wrestling company has a lot of poo poo you need to tolerate in order to enjoy the good parts.
I think WWE does get many passes on garbage that would have people crucifying TNA.
I also think TNA has been more entertaining the past couple of months.

I find it funny that the only WWE guy who doesn't get a pass is John Cena.

Someone recently complained about Cena looking angry but still trying to pose for the crowd at the end of tonights Raw. As if Stone Cold Steve Austin has never, ever, ever done that ever. Ever. Or gently caress, as if Randy Orton has never done it ever.
I don't mind Cena. They need a wrestler for the little kids. They just make his angles so dull.

I really don't understand the popularity of Orton though. It's like WWE wants to make him into a Stone Cold type badass, but with his monotone, robotic speaking and the PG ratings he comes of boring as hell to me.

I don't know if it is even that anymore.

He put one pretty awesome beat down on Darren Young, showed some fantastic intensity and got ripped on for simply posing to the crowd after. Like that is some petty, silly stuff. That just goes to show that people will never be happy with Cena even if he does what they want him to do, with exception to the big one. That being a heel turn, which they would start cheering him immediately for doing, which is completely against the point of a loving heel turn.

It's like the guy can't win.
I think some of it has to do with the overall blandness of WWE's heels nowadays.
Hogan had some larger than life heels to fight which allowed him to put on over the top promos and performances.

I think Foley was bigger than Undertaker during the attitude era. He had more promos, is remembered more for big matches and angles, and got a bigger reaction from the crowds. I think this may have been because of Undertaker's character because that era in the WWF wasn't focusing on gimmicks like his and when they repackaged him with the biker image and Limp Biscuit theme song I don't think he caught on like Foley did.

I'm just guessing, but during that time period big time boxing and wrestling events would be simulcast via satellite to arenas. I'm thinking that the WWF may have added a match or two live in the 2 cities that weren't the main billing to boost attendance.

After reading many threads in WH2K, I've come to find out Ultimate Warrior is a conservative nutjob that despises gays. I remember about 10 years ago some of my friends telling me Warrior was gay and he had gotten blackballed from wrestling for coming out of the closet on national TV. Some of the generic songs used by WCW were also used in porn. I think that's just it really, the songs weren't exclusive so porn makers got the rights too. They keep using Crash Holly's theme on Top Gear.
I was wondering if WCW had someone make the songs for them and were stupid enough to not copyright them. Or if they got them from some mass marketer of existing generic background music from the 90's. Considering I never worked in the exiting world of elevator music, I didn't want to just assume anything, that's why I asked the question.
