It is true that this is a different class (lol) of protest, but calling for violence against them even ironically is not OK.

Even on a non-critical surface, the ongoing oscillations even before V2 would likely disrupt airflow sufficiently to annoy the (uh, paying) passengers & crew and possibly create a rapid, unplanned disassembly of the airframe early in the flight.

I suspect you'd get a rapid, unplanned disassembly of the protesters' arms from their bodies before any serious airframe damage occurred

Is that a helm for steering it when it's in boat mode? Because that's awesome.

Also digging the 6x overhead throttle levers and basically everything else about that cockpit/bridge.

The Latécoère 632 is right up there for 'best-looking aeroplane of all time'. I love how long and low-slung it looks despite its size. Like those Art Deco posters where the stretch the plane/train/car to give the impression of speed, but real

MrYenko posted:

Apparently the 'turret' in the middle was where all the hydraulic controls were gathered - three-axis trim wheels (presumably the 'helm' is one of those) and the levers for the flaps and retractable wing floats.

Although that is a compass and pelorus on top, for taking bearings when afloat!

The retractable wing floats are rad. Latécoère made some nice looking planes. I also think the 298 is quite good looking.

For that much money you’re better off spending a bit more and getting something that’s much classier.

I think the thing that's going to keep more people from going up in warbirds is going to be the liability insurance and how much it's going to inflate the ride prices.

Riding in the Bombardier seat in Doc or Fifi is probably about to become the purview of well-heeled doctors and lawyers only (with the occasional raffle winner) - not just "dudes who have a few thou to burn."

I noticed in the pic the floats also have wheels. Are they retractable? Did they flip because they forgot to raise the gear? Just making pointless speculation.
