Lots of people in here have praised Cut as the best place for meat in vegas. Would we need a reservation for a saturday? What kind of prices are there? I'm going either way but it's nice to know these things.

Is there good mongolian bbq somewhere close ish to the nugget? What's a decent club that's sort of reasonably priced and what should we do to get in relatively painlessly?

You'll definitely want a reservation. It's been a couple of years since I was there but probably $50-100 for an entree if you don't get too crazy with the higher grade imported aged beef. I think we came out around $600 for a few courses for two people with tip and a reasonable bottle of wine last time I was there.

I don't know of any good Mongolian bbq places anywhere in Vegas (we used to go to the outlet mall in Primm for food court quality) but please post if you find anything.

What's a good place on-strip to watch the USA - Mexico soccer match on Saturday night? I don't feel like dealing with college football fans/bettors so it seems like the sportsbooks would be out. I'm staying at Caesars if it matters.

The P.U.B. at Crystals/City Center is decent and will probably show the game, but Jay's suggestion is better if you don't mind leaving the strip.

What do people like for low-key steak places around Red rock?

Depends on how close to red rock. (Casino or park?)

Echo & Rig at Tivoli Village is probably your best bet if you don't need to be walking distance to the casino.

Doesn't matter all the much, I did look at Echo and Rig and it looks like it will work. I'll be staying at red rock casino.

Hearthstone and the Mexican place at red rock are both good. Public school and grape street at downtown summerlin (connected to the casino) are also good, none of these are a steakhouse though.

People have jobs that don’t cover cabs to the airport? :aaaaa:

Anyhow, I’ve just heard some horror stories of trying to get in and out of the city during major conferences. Wondering how that impacts traffic and getting through security.

I live in Vegas and travel (almost) every week for work, usually Monday-Thursday. The non precheck lines can be bad but as long as you have precheck you are extremely unlikely to ever have an issue. Traffic is generally not a problem. The biggest drawback is that it's not a hub so depending on where you're traveling/how you feel about southwest you may have connections.

Weird. I’m surprised it’s not a hub. Any idea which cities you’d expect to get a one leg flight but can’t?

Mostly east coast - Tampa is the most glaring for me. D.C./Seattle/Portland have a few nonstops but they're limited so can be tough. Denver/most of California/Dallas are all really easy.

Any idea what's going on in the first week of May to kick all the hotel rates up? Wife and I are planning a trip, and a couple hotels in the south end of the strip seemed to have higher rates that week

It’s probably boxing (Alvarez Golovkin rematch) 5/5 at T-Mobile.

With COVID looking not so great, is there any discussion around vaccine requirements for anything in Vegas? I'll be in Vegas Sept 17-20 for Friday night of Life is Beautiful & the UNLV-ISU football game, and would love to do some pool or night clubbing but not willing to play the odds if they aren't checking vaccine status.

So far vaccination is only required for Raiders games (and maybe some conventions.) Large event operators (more than 4000 people) have the option to drop mask mandates if they require proof of vaccination but the Raiders are AFAIK the only ones that have done this, other events at Allegiant (so far) require masks but not tests or vaccination.

If you missed it above, I actually tried to book at Linq, but the Caesar's reservation system stole 115 bucks from me without giving me a reservation.

I just want a clean place to sleep. Reviews on Trip Advisor and Google make it sound like every hotel under $300 on the Strip is full of black mold and falling apart at the seams, so it's hard to figure out where to stay.

Might try Park MGM next. But they charge for loving parking of course. Or I might call in to see what they can do about the Linq reservation and perhaps compensate me somehow for the inconvenience their system has caused me.

You know the Caesars properties also charge for parking? I think the only free parking anymore is Wynn/Venetian (which are probably not in your price range depending on your dates) or (apparently) TI. Most parking downtown is also paid but I don't know specific properties.

Also none of the ticket redemption machines give you change anymore so if you don't want to passively enrich the casinos you gotta take tickets to the cashier cage.

I'm very angry about this in an old man yelling at clouds kind of way. I actually got change from a machine somewhere recently (off strip, maybe Suncoast) and was inexplicably happy about it.

Looking to breeze into town on our way to Park City for a ski trip. Wife and two kids in tow, zero interest in gambling. No one else has been to Vegas before, would like them to see the strip and maybe dinner at Lotus of Siam or somewhere else mid-tier and delicious. Is NYNY our best bet for a Monday lunchtime arrival, out the next morning? What am I missing for kids that's cheap and cheerful?

Lotus has opened a 2nd location in Red Rock Casino. If that's the focus of your trip I'd recommend staying there, you can mess around on the strip when you get into town and then head up to Summerlin for the evening. (It's off strip but so is the original Lotus location.)

NYNY has the roller coaster and the arcade which are kid friendly but none of the strip hotels are really "for kids". NYNY, Excalibur or comedy option Circus Circus (don't actually stay here) are probably the best if you prefer to stay on strip, depending on kid ages/interests.

Is anyone able to recommend quieter boutique hotels off the strip but still with a smaller pool, spa, etc. and all of that? Serene Vegas looks nice?

Can you clarify what you mean by off the strip? (Las Vegas is fairly big.) Do you want to be close to but not quite on the strip, or is there a specific part of town you're looking to be in, or what are you looking to do while you're here?

Most of the local casinos are setup like slightly scaled down strip properties, so any of the station casinos, boyd casinos, or the Rampart/JW Marriott would probably fit your description but none would be super close to the strip.

Actually I'm investigating for a quick trip in a few weeks and I think I've talked myself out of Sahara. Looks good in itself (if you get in with the room decor) but it's kind of in the middle of nowhere there.

Anyone started at the Hilton Garden Inn? I started at one in New York and it was pretty good. How accessable is it from the Strip? I think I'm looking at that, Virgin or TI, if anyone has thoughts on how they compare.

I’m not sure what Hilton Garden Inn you’re looking at but TI is the only one of those three that’s on the strip, if that’s your priority.

I’d like to see if I can get a town car or something similar to scoop my SO and I from the airport to the strip and return. I’ve done some searching and it seems it’s mostly extravagant limos and such which isn’t really what we’re after. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Most/all of the limo companies will have different car type options including smaller cars. Rates are more or less going to be the same across companies, Presidential and Bell are probably the 2 biggest:

All/most of the NFR events are at thomas and mack but it’s a big enough event that the whole city is full of cowboys while it’s going on. Afaik it’s still in early December.
